Blog turns tables on gun map paper
By KATIE GLUECK | 12/27/12 7:37 AM EST Updated: 12/27/12 11:06 AM EST

A blogger who retaliated against a New York newspaper that came under fire for identifying people with gun licenses in its circulation area explained on Thursday why he published the names and home addresses of the paper’s employees.

“Well, I just thought they were being hypocrites,” said Christopher Fountain on CNN’s “Early Start.” “In the aftermath of Newtown, it was obviously one tragedy, but somehow they were conflating legal gun owners with some crazed tormented devil up in Newtown and putting the two together. And I was offended by that and I wondered how they would like it if their addresses were published.”...........................>>>>..................................>>>>....................Read more: http://www.politico.com/story/2012/12/blog-turns-tables-on-gun-map-paper-85520.html#ixzz2GH77n2aR

The blogger did nothing wrong. He did exactly what the paper did. He published publicly available data.

In an accompanying piece, the paper had said that some citizens “would like lawmakers to expand the amount of information the public can find out about gun owners” after the Newtown massacre.

Fountain swung back at that response.

“Well, she could have just published the number of gun permits, which is actually quite small, if she wanted to show an issue that there are 2,000 legally registered guns in her county, fine,” he said. “But the fact that they put the addresses — I’ve received e-mails from abused women who were under protective order and in hiding and they’re terribly afraid that now their names and addresses are all over the Internet and accessible through that map.”

Women with gun permits that were victims of domestic abuse are fair game to liberals.  They don't care.  The end justifies the means, even if they have to start their own war on women, so be it.

Journal News To List More Gun Permit Holders After Uproar
Reuters  |  Posted: 12/29/2012 7:00 am EST  |  Updated: 12/29/2012 8:37 am EST
By Noreen O'Donnell

NEW YORK, Dec 29 (Reuters) - A suburban New York newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals.

Further names and addresses will be added as they become available to a map originally published on Dec. 24 in the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said.

The original map listed thousands of pistol permit holders in suburban Westchester and Rockland counties just north of New York City.

Along with an article entitled "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," the map was compiled in response to the Dec. 14 shooting deaths of 26 children and adults in Newtown, Connecticut, editors of the Gannett Corp.-owned newspaper said...........................>>>>.......................>>>>................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/29/journal-news_n_2380058.html

We have a neighbor who is known to have a gun... no one in the neighborhood feels safer because of it.
He's nuts.

Rotterdam death ruled suicide
Albany Times Union, NY
David Filkins
Monday, November 10, 2008
ROTTERDAM -- State police said a 26-year-old woman died Saturday in her Floral Avenue home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No charges were filed stemming from the incident which officials said occurred sometime in the afternoon. The Times Union is withholding the name of the victim as a matter of privacy. During the day Saturday - several investigators combed through the house at Floral Avenue before ruling the death a suicide. [LINK]

That was the full Albany Times article two days after the death of Melissa Varrone ... Her life and her death are worth MORE than a one day investigation. That's what she got - shot on Saturday, and ruled a suicide on Sunday. The Albany times decision to not print her name goes along with it's decision to not say that she is the wife of a Rotterdam Police Officer who was home at the time of the shooting, or that she has a young son who will be without her from now on.

See the next post:
[NY] Melissa (Messineo) Varrone's Myspace page was deleted, so...

Tell me this isn't funny, the newspaper who made it their business to go after law abiding gun owners have not just hired armed guards for themselves.

Fecal matter mailed to White Plains news editor

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Police say someone mailed fecal matter to the home of an editor for a New York newspaper that has published the names and addresses of residents with handgun permits.

White Plains police Commissioner David Chong says a suspicious package that brought out the Westchester County bomb squad Thursday turned out to contain "non-toxic fecal matter."

He said Friday the package was sent to a Journal News employee. The newspaper identified her as CynDee Royle, who's editor and vice president/news.

Last month, The Journal News published on its website a clickable map identifying Westchester and Rockland county residents with handgun permits.........................>>>>.......................>>>>.................http://wnyt.com/article/stories/s2893941.shtml?cat=10114
