SCHENECTADY — Former Union College president Roger Hull says his Alliance Party, which he created in an attempt to defeat city Democrats in the 2011 election, is active and that he'll prove it by soon announcing who he will run for three City Council seats in November.

It's fiscal incompetency alright. Everyone knows that the current DEM crew is unfit but how many care? City voters seem to like scandals, nepotism and hiring incompetents aka"working together".
Rich Patierne is not running again. Hull needs to come up with 3 new people who have private sector expertise with million dollar budgets and can articulate real fiscal reform.

Never going to happen.   The average voter isn't impressed with brains or loyalty.  Ask Ron Paul or Paternie how it worked for then.   The only way he has a chance is if he had a few weeks of shock therapy.

Agreed. Jason should team up with Vince Riggi.

Vince's background is a lot better than this Alliance line. The City seems to agree that an independent can fill in the open Council slots...maybe there is less guilt from the DEM voters when they vote IND.

Maybe the real problem is that folks like Roger Hull or other individuals who believe that they can "hand pick" candidates  think that it is up to them to decide who runs the city.

The best thing for the city and other local governments would be to have COMPLETELY NON-PARTISAN elections for local office -- any candidate who registers (say for a nominal filing fee of  $50) would have their name appear on a Non-Partisan Primary ballot on which ANY registered voter in the municipality is entitled to vote ... the top 3 vote getters would then face-off in the General Election campaign .. with the top vote-getter winning the office (or in the case of city council or town council the top 3 or top 2 respectively).

Get the parties -- all of them -- out of local government.

Sounds great -- another sign of the Democrat-led RENAISSANCE in Schenectady County.

… what I have been saying all along --- Schenectady is undergoing an economic RENAISSANCE under the leadership of the Democratic Party.

The first 8 years of Democratic leadership has brought tremendous improvements to Schenectady County --- the next 8 years of Democratic leadership will bring even more improvements.

The Renaissance goes on and on ....

in 7 short years the Democrats the Democrats have DROPPED TAX RATES TO THE LOWEST POINT SINCE THE 1950's and  the entire county is in an economic Renaissance -- including Downtown.

THOSE ARE THE FACTS --- and no amount of screeching and insults … can diminish the RECORD OF POSITIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS BROUGHT TO THE COUNTY BY  DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP.

What is this?    Quite obvious DV is so very very embarrassed at what HIS democrats have been doing to Schenectady, so he seems to not be bragging about what they are doing, not much claims of the renaissance lately.   This MUST be an admission THE DEMOCRATS ARE RUINING the city !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    After all, highest taxes, highest poverty, HUGE reductions in the tax base in the city, home values plummeting, people fleeing the city in droves, no one buying houses IN the city--heck, DV will not even live IN the city, not even as a renter.

And to this day, DV STILL has REFUSED to provide one teeny weeny shred of evidence about his statement (above) about the county taxes.

And of course, being so very embarrassed at all the truths coming out about the city, he doesn't talk about them anymore.  And obviously since all he does is tell fairy tales, he won't respond to my posts (PRETENDS to not read them) challenging him to respond and provide evidence.  Proves all he tells is FAIRY tales.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I believe that Roger Hull would continue to hand properties over to Union College and would continue to
rebuild downtown to favor the wishes of the students.

At the homeowners expense.

Exactly! Even if this were not true, the perception is just that.

Vince came on the Council as a truly sincere, honest and forthright individual. He won on merit which, in this city, really doesn't seem to hold a lot of weight. Cuthbert....man....would LOVE to see him sitting next to McCheesy!!! I'd pay for that photo to be framed!

McCheesy couldn't fire him then!

How dare Roger Hull think he can pick better than Mayor McCheese, Tom Bellick and the pinhead who needs new glasses? Those are the "leaders" that should be making all decisions. Besides they are so good
with a budget-lol. Tried in California. Guess what? You get all DEMS running anyway. Jason Cuthbert would finish last. He was right but no one listened and even fewer care. One trick pony. 3 new business leaders
with private sector expertise and the cash to take it.

Who is Hull?  I started to think he cared.  He came up short....he had momentum but let off the gas.  He doesn't even go to the council meetings.  Paternie barely went.  Bunch of part timers.  Sad. So much potential.
