Private businesses drug tyest their employees, make tehm submit to polygraphs to get the job?
I never said they have no way of enforcinbg policy, but, you want things enforced that offend your moral sensibilities - and might offend others.
It doesn't offend my morals, it makes me question the judgment of the people empowered to carry a gun and detain me. I want policy that addresses the perception of impropriety and start portraying an image of professionalism.
Private businesses DO drug test their employees. Many companies have a pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug screening.(Is the SPD officers subject to that?) I know that banks also do drug screenings, a criminal background check and even a credit check because they have access to large amounts of cash.
I worked for a company that terminated two employees for using racial slurs (the N word) to address each other while on break. And both employees were black. Neither employee filed a complaint or was offended, but since it was overheard and brought to the attention of management, they were termed.
This was an annual party for a SPD platoon. It was held in a bar that was closed to the public with multiple strippers. They showed poor judgment and poor character.
I say the SPD handle this like they do with John's that are caught soliciting a prostitute. Give a list of the officer’s names that attended the stripper party, along with their picture and send it in to the Gazette to be published. If public humiliation is punishment for the citizens for the victimless crime of prostitution, then these officers should also be publically humiliated for their participation in stripper party where we will never know if the police ever crossed from just looking to touching.
OMG!!! She actually admitted the spd was 'jaded' and found that acceptable!!! OMG!!!

And They Better Think Better In the Future about Bacherlor Parties!! So Private Stripper Party and We're Not Talking The Clergy here?? Not The Street Babes that ??? break The Law. And Strip Joints still exist which is open to The Public? Well at least there was No Weed there??
After thinking about it for a bit, I realized something sad and worrisome. When thinking of who would do wrong doing in such an event, I thought, well Tops and Bottoms are professionals, but the SPD... well not so much LOL.
Also Visitor, no, I've never been to a strip club. Learned WAY too much on this thread and if this is what the new "Christmas Party" is all about, let's just call the whole thing off next year!
It was a poor decision that I'm surprised no one in the department questioned.
Hee hee hee! Me too! Also Visitor, no, I've never been to a strip club. Learned WAY too much on this thread and if this is what the new "Christmas Party" is all about, let's just call the whole thing off next year! It was a poor decision that I'm surprised no one in the department questioned.
After all the cooping, working at Hess while on the City clock, egg throwing, commuting from Lake Luzerne in City vehicles, flouting residency laws despite hot air from Mayor McCheese etc. etc. with this department someone should have said something. New recruits should have had a higher standard. Like the exemplary behavior shown at City Hall under the "leadership" of Mayor McCheese and Denise Brucker.
Denise Brucker is head of "work force" at SCCC? lol. What happened at Adirondack CC? She never held a private sector job. Another only in Schenectady. She can train a new generation of Lumpy Kosiurs.
Heard that so far the investigation doesn't show that any academy trainees or staff were at the party. Going to be interesting what they report when completed but if there are any recruits they needed to be booted right out and their staff too. Get rid of them before they get on the force maybe if that was done years ago we wouldn't have so many problems with some of the cops we do have on the force today.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- An internal investigation is underway at the Schenectady Police Department to see if there was any inappropriate behavior at a police platoon party last week that included strippers.
Schenectady Police Chief Mark Chaires confirms about two dozen department members were at the party on Wednesday night at a restaurant in Schenectady. He says shift members put on the parties themselves, and the police department doesn't have any official part of them.
The chief says it's not illegal for a stripper to go to the party, but it's unprecedented. According to Chaires, the investigation is to determine if there was anything illegal taking place at the party. The department will take appropriate action.
This investigation comes only days before Chief Chaires is officially off the job. His last day as chief will be on Monday, December 31st. Chaires is a 24 year veteran of the police department. We do not yet know who will take Chaires' place.
