Madam X - Not that it makes it right but owner's mother is battling a life threatening disease. That's not an excuse but may shed some light as to why someone sho led a crime free life took a reckless gamble like that. To lump her in with all of the rest of this is blurring the issue. |

Morality and maturity in all phases and ways of life are gone......spirituality is gone......being a "good" cop is gone....
Why are they shaving their heads......why do they have this "swagger" when they walk.....why do they let certain people "go"
what does the test prove.....are they taking the top contenders or just picking who knows who ??????
why do they choose to use brute force in most situations.......and innocent people get hurt or die.
May be trivial questions....but the mindset of todays law is way off base....
.goes to show you how much respect they have for their job when they conduct themselves as the people they are protecting us from....loose without morals and supposed to
be a role model....
male egos along with a uniform, badge and a gun....does not make a cop.

What do you people expect it is the SPD, the same police who break more laws and have the balls to nail others for it |

No it is not blurring the issue. Cops need to AVOID establishments connected with criminal behavior. Case closed. No wonder we have the problems we do. |

the proper perspective is that a good percentage of bars in schenectady are owned by former police or police family....

Various:
Cicero - it does not mean they were criminals when hired. Some were hired due to poor hiring practices. But some steered off course after getting on the job.
Cicero - First of all they did not do this when in uniform. Should not have been done, but, it would not impact the way they interact with citizens, unlike some of the other misdeeds.
The fact the incident occurred at the same bar means nothing as the owner has no connection to PD. And to blame what his mother did on the PD is a stretch - but consisent for you.
Again, strippers are not illegal. Not defending this stupid embarrassing act - but let's keep things in their proper perspective.
It doesn't matter if they did this while in uniform. My understanding is that a cop is still a cop, even out of uniform. Off duty officers can still arrest. An off duty officer can shoot a person if they feel necessary. So the behavior of a cop in or out of uniform is still a refelction on the department that issues the unifom. Strippers are not illegal if there was no hands on activity going on. Otherwise it was prostitution. Digesualdo owned the Christy's Inn building while his mother held the liquor license. His mother stole the lottery money, now Digesualdo owns the bar and is holding private stripper parties for the Schenectady police. So the retired SPD cop facilitates a stripper party for current cops? You don't think the retired cop should have advised the young officers against such poor conduct? And you think it's a stretch to connect those dots? |

yes a police officer in a bar, not on duty that gets assaulted gets the person who assaulted them a charge of assaulting an officer...... is there a difference between a cop and an officer? |

Let's see the police Code of Conduct. This issue came up in Saratoga Springs very recently. Every department has one. |

Cicero = Again stripping is not illegal. But, i garee the line between stripping and prostitution gets blurred and crossed - so it is really something to be leary of, and in this case should have been avoided.
But waht would everyone say if a bunch of off duty cops went to a strip bar? Is that wrong? Do we have the right to legislate or judge that kind of off duty conduct? I don't think you have the right to tell a cop he cannot go to a strip bar.
I wouldn't call it an establishment with a criminal past because of the actuiosn of teh mother. She's been a straightb egg all her life - this was an unfortunate lapse.
Stretch to lump akll those thibgs together. It would have been sound advice to tell them not to do it, but, as a businessman is he required to do so?
