New data released from the U.S. Census provide another measurement of Schenectady's alarming childhood poverty rate in showing that 40 percent of city school district children live below the poverty line — an increase from 29 percent between 2010 that makes Schenectady's the 10th most impoverished school district in the state.

Wait!   How can this be?   Stratton, Savage, McC, the plex players, gee, they all said Schenectady was this miracle city, everything was going to get better as a result of spending hundreds of millions of taxpayers' money on downtown!

But what REALLY happened to the city as a result of their work?

Highest taxes and going higher
DRASTICALLY reduced tax base
DRASTICALLY tanking home values
People unable to sell their homes (at times when they need to from even things like  job transfers, look at the ex supt Ely, over two years and his house has not sold)
Houses not selling
Tanking house sale prices
A dem refusal to reduce assessments  to equal the full market value
Increasing numbers of vacant houses
Increasing numbers of abandoned houses
Increasing numbers tax foreclosures
Homeowners fleeing the city
Rental residents fleeing the city
No place to shop in the city
Increasing crime
Worsening school system
Increasing child poverty
Reduced average and median incomes

And the dem group touts the creation of jobs?   What jobs?   They need to list these jobs.   They need to list what the pay of these alleged jobs is.   They need to cite which employees of these alleged jobs are buying homes IN the city.

Where is the renaissance?   Would like to see if anyone can provide even a SHRED OF EVIDENCE.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

and apparently poverty is a 'disease'.....

poor as compared to who? the towns/other countries/other states/other counties????

but there's a whole load of very very cheap workers that get nickled and dimed to death...especially in healthcare...
single mom's with so much milk and cheese that they have to GIVE it away so it doesn't spoil....

so here's my take on it....a bunch of people actually like cheap workers, so a 'feel good' system gets set up so that everyone can
participate in it and 'feel good' about their station in life, called welfare/wic/heap etc etc....no need to raise the wages because the
system tells the taxpayers that the 'dogs' that clean the floor under their dinner table is taken care of very well.....and
'we need to do this'.....when these workers have jobs that pay sh!t they don't care because they are staying alive via a FALSE
value system.....AGAIN....I ASK----WHAT IS THE VALUE OF THE TAXES WE PAY??????

the value is in how much we want to have our asses wiped by cheap labor, as long as we feel good about 'giving' such support
it's a hippo critical cast system.....

the value is virtual.....
