While Death Ray can't open a McDonald's or Dunkin Donuts downtown Macy's at little old Colonie Center keeps posting million dollar sales days. Macy's- Colonie Center has set a new holiday record of consecutive million dollar sales days. In Downtown McCheeseville they are lucky to sell $10,000 retail on a weekend. Caught some of Death Ray on Fat Morris TV-16. His arm must hurt from patting himself on the back. NEWSFLASH-you haven't accomplished anything. Sales tax receipts Downtown and property values have crashed under your "leadership". If the DEM morons were serious about balancing City and County budgets they would disband Metrograft and return all sales tax money directly to the City and towns. |

Wouldn't it be AWESOME if the end of the Schenectady "Holiday Parade" ended at a retail store like say other well-known parades????
I'd take a Target, Macy's...heck even Wally World Downtown if it meant JOBS, a business which pays PROPERTY AND SCHOOL TAXES and had the added perk of bringing people into the neighborhoods.
But I'm a dreamer. |

OK, DV (using "mommy's" name) tell us what good downtown is doing for the city. Tell us about effect on the tax base, tell us about the effect on the tax bills, tell us about the effect on the home values, tell us about the effect on home sales in the city, tell us what the occupancy rate is of all those tax exempt apartments down that are still sitting vacant. When are YOU going to move into one of those apartments, huh? But can you at least acknowledge that the "nayboobs" are simply telling the TRUTH's about the city AND have provided the OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE to prove what we say about the result of the dems and their theft from homeowners and mis-use of taxpayers' money. Oh, that's right, since all the news lately has supported what we say, you won't comment anymore, too embarrassing to admit you are wrong |

There are not enough folks in the city that could economically/fiancially support a business like macy's or target. Over 50% are either on welfare OR making minimum wage from those great newly created jobs! |

I love that Macy's.
Love the men's department. I'll never by another suit anywhere else after being taken so good care of by a particular person there. |

I do great at Macys. My mom retired as a store manager from there, and gets 27% off for life. Every fall, they send her a few "Share The Joy Of The Season"(or something like that) cards, that you can give to friends, and they too get 27% off until the end of the year.
Hit a "one day", or half price sale with that discount, and you're buying stuff for pennies on the dollar. I wish they still sold furniture and appliances locally. |

I got good help from a salesman in the men's department at Macy's as well. I was very grateful, as I know NOTHING about buying menswear. A stylishyoung woman I know, who does know a lot about men's fashion, was impressed with the selection there. |

It's too late to get a good department store downtown. I thought that Carl's would have been the logical place for a store like Boscov's, which is known to be looking for a site for another store, but nooo, we have to give everything away to the abomination that is Proctor's today. Even if we had room for a retail store, you'd have to deal with things like asking for the key to the restroom and people living in the changing rooms. Not gonna happen. |

The guy's name was Ray, an older gentlemen... But seemed like such a good guy I actually let him take my contact information to call me if he had some sales he wanted to promote.
I give like no one my number. |

How about a charity shop? That's more doable. Then Marion Porterhouse can run it into the ground. Target is now open in Glenville not McCheeseville. But shop at Macy's-Colonie Center only. Fat Morris, Death Ray and his overpaid DSIC/Metrograft goons all have to go. Congrats to the Macy's management but are they doing so well or all competitors that bad? |

The man who assisted me might've been Ray, he was an older man. I felt as if I had traveled back in time to an era of customer service which doesn't exist any more. I don't know whether the rest of Macy's has any good help, but that men's department stands out. Competitors? Do stores compete in the area of customer service? Most compete to see how few disinterested adolescents they can have on hand at one time.
What's he deal with all the junk stores downtown? Not exactly a sign of renaissance. Is it several stores or one business permeating the area over several locations? I happened to be downtown a while back when a show at Proctor's got out during daytime hours. There was a stampede toward the parkingareas. You never saw late-middle aged people move so fast. Of course, no police to help with the dangerous Broadway crossing, and up the middle of Jay Street, the pedestrian area, a large Truck o' Junk tooling along, discouraging a couple of elderly women from trying to even glance at some of the shops as they made their way to the relative safety of their vehicles. Poor planning somewhere. |

He was Caucasian, in his 60's and had a pot-belly Anyway - I sent the store an email complimenting service, and the next time I returned (to do an exchange of something I bought online), I actually signed up for a Macy's credit card I was so pleased with how he helped me. Anyway -good experiences there, love the place. |
