Two people stabbed in Schenectady bar melee

By Lauren Stanforth
Published 12:07 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012

SCHENECTADY – Two people were stabbed during a massive bar fight on Broadway early Sunday morning.

Schenectady police responded to Club XI, 11 N. Broadway, around 3:25 a.m. for a fight that involved as many as 100 people. When officers arrived, they learned there was a stabbing victim inside the bar, 33-year-old city resident Quentin Blunt. Blunt was stabbed once in the back, and was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital for the non-life threatening injury.

Another man, 33-year-old Jamel Carroll of the Bronx, was also stabbed in the leg and treated at Ellis Hospital.

Mutual aid was called to control and disperse the crowd. Five people were arrested, four for disorderly conduct and one for obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. None of those arrested were directly connected with the stabbings. The investigation into who stabbed the victims, and what caused the fight, is under investigation.

"Mutual aid was called....."

Mutual aid?    Why?   Oh yeah, McC spends the city taxpayers' money on non-essentials, on STUPID projects just as Erie Blvd, on building new apartments and condos despite the FACT (supported WITH OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE) that there are record high numbers of vacant residential units, AND people are fleeing the city in a 3 to 1 ratio.

But forget about paying for adequate police protection and focusing on the neighborhoods where the taxpayers live.

Plus, not a good look for that new, outdoor patio/biergarten they are working on on the corner of broadway and union

Mike - some crime is going down.

But, if the City is to improve - we have to stop handing out permits and licenses to everyone who wants to opena bodega and/or bar.

Maybe we should get metroplex to stop pouring money into funding every bar in and surrounding the downtown area.

I don't fully agree with that statement. It depends on the type of establishment the developer chooses to create. The type of patrons that it will attract is based on how they present it. A wine bar will attract a totally different clientele then a dance bar/nightclub

I am sure it was a personal matter like the shooting in front of bombers

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Did they actually obtain the permit.  It says pending.
