The FACTS speak for themselves -- Metroplex under the leadership of Ray Gillen is providing REAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT that is generating increase revenues. Despite the false claims of the ignoramus nayboobs - progress is being made and Schenectady County's Renaissance continues.
Now your cheering for metroplex again, but a few weeks ago you couldn't care less about them. Why are you such a hypocrite?
As for Metroplex, I have repeatedly said that I believe we don't need a separate UNELECTED board -- the County Legislature is directly elected by the people and is (or in theory should be) accountable directly to the people. I wouldn't object if Metroplex were abolished tomorrow and the responsibility (and accountability) for economic development was placed back in the hands of the ELECTED officials-- the ones we can boot out or reelect depending on how well they do their jobs/
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Facts?????
How about the FACT that the tax base in the city has PLUMMETED DRASTICALLY since metroplex. Please address that FACT (for which I have posted THE EVIDENCE, i.e, the numbers directly off the OFFICIAL FINAL tax rolls)
How about the FACT that the city is in super major bad shape financially, show much so that the state audit revealed that the taxes are going to have to increase at least 75%? Well, are you too chicken to respond to that?
How about the FACT that the home values in the city have PLUMMETED DRASCTICALLY since metroplex. Please address that FACT (for which I have posted EVIDENCE, i.e, posted the actual sale prices showing drastic reduction in value)
How about the FACT that taxes have INCREASED DRASTICALLY since metroplex exempts downtown from paying taxes. Please address that FACT (which we all have provided the EVIDENCE from OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS)
How about the FACT that homes are NOT selling in the city, many homes sit for sale for a year or sometimes even two, since metroplex. Please address that FACT (for which many of us here have posted the EVIDENCE to support that FACT.)
How about the FACT that the percent of vacant housing has INCREASED DRASTICALLY because: people who have tried to sell have moved and their house is vacant, renters are turning away from renting IN the city so residential units sit vacant, and lastly those that have been foreclosed because the owners could no longer afford to pay the taxes of downtown! Would you care to address those FACTS, for which many of us have posted the EVIDENCE to support those FACTS
How about the FACT that the since spending taxpayer money via metroplex on downtown, Schenectady has the highest crime, the highest unemployment (proving metroplex is NOT helping create jobs), the highest poverty rate, the highest taxes, a terribly failing school system, and DRASTIC reductions in essential services to the taxpayers and residents. Care to address those FACTS, of which ALL of these have been supported by EVIDENCE from many government sources.
How about the FACT that you have merely referenced a tabloid newspaper story (that is one of the dem party cronies), and that interesting comes out in the paper days after someone speaks at the council meeting and gave the council proof that the Morris (lavishly paid with taxpayer money), is ILLEGALLY getting two STAR tax exemptions, and at a time when the taxpayers are getting more vocal about having to pay higher taxes while funding downtown but losing services.
Of course you are much much too embarrassed to admit the city is failing since metroplex, Tell us WHERE has this money gone that these places allegedly generated? Can you tell us???? If they generated so much money, why are home values plummeting? Why is the tax based plummeting? Why are are taxes going up?
By the way, when are you closing on a house IN the city? Or, just even tell us when you are going to move into the so called renaissance city even just renting.
Why do you REFUSE to move INTO the city (regardless of buying or renting). Well? Too chicken to admit the truth, huh?
Cluck cluck cluck

What I find interesting is that the 2013 Budgets for both the Schenectady City and Schenectady County only show a total revenue of $1.5 million for PILOTS. So the other $6 million is going where? The Schools and Towns?
I dont care what was "generated". We are losing more in businesses going BK. This is another fluff job.
Agreed.
The dems and plex are getting VERY VERY scared now that Vince Riggi is being vocal, and especially the taxpayers who are getting louder and getting the word around that the homeowners are covering the overwhelming majority of taxes for downtown, and that's on top of paying for their own taxes.
And of course, taxpayers are getting upset that the cannot pay for maintenance on their own houses because they are being force to pay for renovations and new buidlings downtown, for owners who are multi millionaires and could build downtown without a penny of taxpayer money.
Unfortunately, unless people read boards like these to actually see the government records, they don't know the truth, and they read a fairy tale like this and believe that everything is great

The chickens have come home to roost. But as the recent results prove again fiscal competence is not a requirement for public service in Schenectady. Good intentions, the right party and the right church are more important. Got high taxes? Where are the jobs McCheese and Death Ray?

WHO WHOO WHOO. Three days have gone by and DV STILL REFUSES to provide proof that revenue is increasing.
The tax base is DRASTICALLY PLUMMETING, and I have provided the EVIDENCE--via the official tax rolls.
Home values are DRASTICALLY PLUMMETING under the plex leasership of Gillen which in turn is causing a DRASTIC INCREASE in abandoned houses which causes a DRASTIC REDUCTION of revenue for the city via property taxes that are NOT paid.
Further -- my statements are FACTUAL --- it is a FACT that county property tax rate were HIGHER in 1970 than they are now, ...
DV keeps on pretending to ignore my posts, and he ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to respond to them. DV cannot provide one teeny weeny shred of proof of the county taxes.
Three days have gone buy and he WILL NOT respond because he has no proof, his facts are NOT facts but total lies. He cannot respond to a lie that he tells.
DV, I hope you are going to Confession faithfullly every Saturday to confess you are telling lies.
