Business Review honors the 2012 Achievers The Business Review Date: Friday, November 9, 2012, 12:58pm EST Donna Abbott Vlahos The Business Review celebrated a milestone anniversary for the Achievers awards, which were first held in 1983. Over the years, the awards have gone to people, companies and nonprofits that have created jobs, pioneered new technologies and turned business models on their heads. The Business Review rolled out the red carpet for its 30th annual Achievers awards banquet on Thursday. More than 350 people attended the awards dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy to recognize the 2012 Achievers. The award winners included: Executive of the Year: Dave Buicko, chief operating officer at The Galesi Group in Rotterdam Company of the Year: AngioDynamics Game Changer: James Connolly of Ellis Medicine Nonprofit of the Year: Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Newsmaker: The Capital Region Economic Development Council Promising Newcomer: GE Energy Storage Prescott Logan, the 40-year-old general manager of GE Energy Storage, accepted the Promising Newcomer award. GE Energy Storage won the award for its new $170 million advanced battery plant in Schenectady. He pointed out the irony of a GE unit receiving a "newcomer" award, but said it was also apt since the unit sees itself as a startup. Dave Buicko won the 2012 Executive of the Year honors. The COO of The Galesi Group has been credited for being a central figure in the rebuilding of downtown Schenectady, New York. An unidentified woman, right, poses for the camera with Jan Smith, center, a former General Electric spokeswoman and principal of Castle Rock Ranch Group, and Joseph Gersuk, CFO of the Latham-based AngioDynamics. Angio, a medical device manufacturer, won the Company of the Year honors. Michael Keegan, regional president for M&T Bank, addresses the Achievers crowd prior to the awards. He announced an M&T donation to the Nonprofit of the Year, the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless. James Connolly, CEO of Ellis Medicine in Schenectady, won the Game Changer award for his innovative approach to improving health care in the region. |

remember the cliques in high school? This is how it is in these in-bred groups. Usually the football player clique and the popular clique have the same constants along with the cheerleader clique. But in this cheerleader clique they really dont allow gloryhigh and VDOR. They make fun of him while he goes and picks up their cheer outfits from the dry cleaners. Also what is interesting is that they usually have a cheerleader dating this year's captain of the football(chief operating officer) team and this is happening here as well. So really it is still the same as it was 35 years ago for these people except that popularity and adoration isn't the only currency for these poor souls. Metroplex cash and political insiderness is also desired. |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |
