I believe the difference you are describing is that an application has been filed for non-profit status, not that they are currently designated as a non-profit.
I am all for the freedom to engage in association in private clubs.
With that being said, if I was a neighbor of this club and had issues with the safety of the neighborhood, I would check the status of the occupancy permit. There are generally 50 to 100 vehicles attending events at this location. The maximum allowable occupancy may well be only 50 or so persons for the entire building.
Keep in mind, these members play with guns and you don't want to expose yourself to possible risk. So take care to be discreet in your actions.
The document that you posted also shows that back taxes may well be dismissed since the city has done the same for other organizations in the past, as stated in the decision.
L4L I too have no probem with private clubs, just something not right with this whole story. And they are allready a non profit, this legistion is that they didn't file the required paperwork to the city for their exemption for taxes.
JUSTIFICATION: The Brothers of St. Paul Lodge 282 missed the application deadline and did not receive its tax exempt status for the 2009 through 2011 assessment rolls. This nonprofit organization must now rectify this situation through state legislation. The restoration of this property tax exemption will enable this nonprofit to continue serving the community.

How can a $60,000 property with a yearly tax bill of $1,164.64 possibly owe $35,000 in taxes?
Something else is missing from the story.
You're looking at the county website and getting that figure, note that says "city taxes." There is also county taxes and school taxes which the county does not list.
None of the dems in the city and county want to provide the TRUE FACTS, they absolutely will NOT list the FULL tax bill amounts of ALL taxes AND "fees" (aka taxes, but not deductible) combined.
You need to estimate about $43 per thousand of assessment

Late Saturday night the place was a ghost town. Not a single person in sight. The streets are usually full of people and cars on a Saturday night.
The only thing around was a small memorial for the shooting victim. Some balloons tied to the telephone pole, about fifty empty liquor bottles and a piece of wallboard covered with signatures.

Wow, that's weird. About half hour ago, while I was out walking, some lady asked me for directions to that exact address. She was at the wrong end of Front.
