Down with the Christmas Police!!!
I don't disagree....then have a F'en hanakah parade/ june teenth parade/ ramada parade/ etc etc....who the hell cares as long as you have a right to a parade....if it is government money then all must have access....privately anyone can call their parade what ever the hell they want to....
a christmas parade should be with private funds a ramadan parade should be with private funds a new years parade should be with private funds a hanakah parade should be with private funds
THAT is what choice is....
the public 'religious' folk have allowed the government to usurp a 'religious' holiday to make them think they are 'more sacred' than anyone else....shame on the religious leaders

Parades are silly. It's as goofy as pubic fireworks. Celebrate your religious observance with your family, don't let a meaningless parade steal that valuable time.

CICERO: Waste!
CRATCHIT: Beg your pardon, sir?
CICERO: Waste, Mr. Cratchit! Waste! We are here to make money, not spend it. If you waste my goods you might find yourself without employment!
(CRATCHIT does not get the lump. Instead, goes back to his desk, tries to warm himself at his CANDLE. Enter FRED from stage left carrying a gift.)
FRED: (Holding out a gift for CICERO.) A merry Christmas, uncle! God save you!
CICERO: Humbug. (CICERO refused gift.)
FRED: Christmas a humbug, uncle? You don't mean that, I am sure! (He sets a gift on corner of book.)
CICERO: I do. Merry Christmas! What is Christmas time but a time for buying things for which you've no need nor money. A time for finding yourself a year older and not an hour richer. What reason do you have to be Merry? You're poor enough.
FRED: Come, then. What right have you to be dismal? You're rich enough.
CICERO: Bah! (He pushes gift to the floor)
FRED: Don't be cross, uncle! (He picks up gift and sets it back on the table)
CICERO: What else can I be when I live in such a world of fools as this? Merry Christmas! Humbug!

Oh, Christmas is about giving presents? I always thought it was a Christian celebration about the birth of Jesus. Silly me. Bah Humbug! It's about consumerism.

when the government 'tags' a holiday a federal holiday it is.....
So then if the 'Govt 'tags' a holiday a federal holiday,' why is there a problem wishing a "Happy Holidays?"

there isn't....if it's government $$ supply the parade, but if it's private then the government cannot name it
I think the 'religious' feel they were ripped off and they were, sold out by their own leaders. I also think those who feel the state is their religion believes in the state as the truth at all costs.

How inappropriate for “Enter the Dragon” to be the theme for a holiday parade — or do I dare say former Christmas parade? The atrocities that occurred in China under Mao’s rule, starving millions, and we are celebrating it for our holiday theme? Or is it that China owns most of our debt, and we pay homage to the great lender to the United States of America? Make sure, comrades, to wear your shirts with Mao’s photo and to wave red flags to celebrate a vicious dictator. In my opinion, it is a boneheaded idea. What happened to it being about U.S. holiday traditions? Price Chopper should have thought twice before going along with this one. Bring back our own traditions and stop trying to take holiday traditions away from the spirit of the holiday. Merry Christmas, “Chimerica.”
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
The anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter on 24 October 1945 has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. It has traditionally been marked throughout the world by meetings, discussions and exhibits on the achievements and goals of the Organization. In 1971, the General Assembly recommended that Member States observe it as a public holiday. (resolution 2782 (XXVI)). (Reference Paper No. 4.

Gazette Holiday Parade draws tens of thousands to Electric City Posted at: 11/17/2012 11:56 PM By: Dan Levy
SCHENECTADY - Tens of thousands of people lined State Street in Downtown Schenectady Saturday night for the city's annual Gazette Holiday Parade, billed as the largest nighttime holiday parade in the northeast.
In some areas along State Street, people were standing four and five rows deep, either sitting down on the curb, stretching up on their toes, or else craning their necks to catch a glimpse of the marching bands, the musicians, and the muscle cars, or to peer at the big red fire trucks, all decked out for the occasion.
Craig McDonald of Rotterdam couldn't wait to see his son, a member of the Mohonasen High School Marching Band, especially because of what the parade has come to symbolize.
"I think it signals the beginning of the holiday for most people," McDonald stated, "It let's them know that it's getting near that time, Christmas is coming, and Thanksgiving, and family, friends, all the good stuff."
The theme for this year's parade, the 45th annual, was: Magic and Myths, which was highlighted and illustrated every time one of the colorful floats passed by, but again, the magic was seemingly less tangible and, in a way, more meaningfully imaginary................................>>>>.........................>>>>..............................http://wnyt.com/article/stories/s2838734.shtml?cat=10114
