Schenectady police say woman blocked traffic so teens could continue fighting Friday, October 26, 2012 By Steven Cook (Contact) Gazette Reporter
SCHENECTADY — A Schenectady woman encouraged two teenage boys to fight and went so far as to block traffic so the fight wouldn't be interrupted, according to city police who arrested her on a variety of charges.
Nickia S. Dickerson, 32, of 1159 Chrisler Ave., is charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment and one count of criminal facilitation and menacing. All the charges are misdemeanors.
The incident occurred on Oct. 11 on Six Avenue in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood, police said.
The fight was captured on video from a cellphone, and the video eventually was turned over to detectives from the police department's Youth Aid Bureau.
On the video, police said, Dickerson can be seen encouraging the boys to fight. She separates them at one point, so they can continue the fight again, then blocks traffic so the fight isn't disturbed by passing cars, police said.
Dickerson was arrested Wednesday and arraigned on Thursday.
