there are,,,,they serve goat meat silly

Actually I don't think he likes so many Italian restaurants because they are competition for his beloved wannabee entertainer tax delinquent (warrants still not paid as of yesterday)

Well the Goat-Hurter is a Business Guru dontcha know....fact that Italian restaurants are among the most popular eating establishments and among the most profitable, doesn't seem to register in his feeble mind. There are plenty of pizza places, plenty of bars and definately plenty of sprots bars, and they survive....BECUASE THE QUALITY OF FOOD AND SERVICE IS GOOD....not becuase there are too many, DUH!!!! Guess we can't expect much from, never held a real job, can't read English, Rhonda the wannabe!!!!

Like Benny said, the playing field is uneven.

Ritz Terrace: 1725 Van Vranken assessed $422,100 (in 2007 paying $7,729 City tax only - no current 2012 number available)

Bombers: 447 State Street assessed $774,500 (in 2007 was supposed to pay $9,723.64 City taxes on the 2007 assessment of $531,000).

A business like the Ritz is paying at least $14,000 in taxes meanwhile Bombers is paying nothing. The $20,000 + savings Bombers receives from skipping out on their City and school tax bills creates an unfair, government supported advantage to a business which does not need such a savings.

Free enterprise is vanishing in Schenectady. The tax base is bottoming out as we speak.

Not to be mean, Rachel- but your numbers are way off.

On the assessment of $422,000 when you add school and water and sewer etc the price of the tax bill is around 20 grand plus or minus. Probably plus. And this rises TWICE a year I assure you. The way things are heading this place will be paying 40 grand inside of ten years.

How many dinners do you need to sell to come up with the PROFITS to pay the property tax. Lets assume the average meal per head is $30.00 with drinks and deserts and appetizers at today's prices. Assuming that the profit margin is about ten percent after all the overhead...

lets say the house makes $3.00 per mouth they feed. Now the owner has to pay the property tax bill and he needs close to 6700 mouths to feed JUST to pay what the greedy City of Schitnecktitty DEMANDS of him to pay.

There you have it: Democrapiss Party GREED closes more establishments and kills more jobs.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

No, you're right GB, I don't have accurate numbers....the County website is so out of date the last assessments and tax figures are from 2007. It's all I had to work with.

But you have the gist of where I was going.

There is NO WAY a business which pays the triple the amount they should in City and property taxes can survive...let alone...COMPETE with other businesses sucking off the governments handouts. It's economically impossible.

Never use County numbers for anything. They specialize in fuzzy math and cooked books. Just ask the DEM
State Comptroller about Metrograft. The ironic part is the Gazetto had a front page local story 2 years ago about the great "renaissance" on Van Vranken. Someone should also get hold of the brain dead Northside Neighborhood
President who stated "things are a little better". Of course this idiot goes into witness protection for four years and
then hosts the next stacked "debates".

The Renaissance moves along wonderfully -- withOUT the few bottom feeders that have closed.

The Renaissance bottomfeeders include the Parker Inn, Cornells, Van Dyke I...they went under even WITH taxpayer funding.

On that list I would like to include Proctors for the ultimate bottom-feeder fiasco...the building Transfinders purchased for $600,000 and for which hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants were spent on just 5 years ago. Transfinders has since torn down the building which included the taxpayer funded 'improvements' ......

The only bottom feeders in the City start with Gillen and end with Morris.

On the page before you got to the tax information, it said this:

"The City of Schenectady Tax information is for 2010.  The year 2007 in the tax year box is there by mistake and Can Not be removed at this time."
