"It's deja vu all over again." Yogi Berra's words unfortunately apply to Schenectady.

Last fall, Mayor Gary McCarthy denied Schenectady was at the edge of a financial cliff. Months later, he found there was a "newly discovered" $5 million financial hole.

Next came the 2013 budget. By amortizing its pension obligations, raiding reserve accounts, and counting on gimmicks that failed in the past, a projected $5 million deficit was "reduced" to $3 million.

The mayor knew — or should have known — the city's plight when he blithely claimed all was well. Problems must be admitted before they can be addressed.

FACT:

The dem mayor, the dem council, the dem county do NOT admit there is a problem.

The EVIDENCE:

Going over the tax cap and blaming it on state mandates when the EVIDENCE proves it is NOT the state mandates because the state does NOT mandate the nursing home, the state does NOT mandate exempting downtown from taxes, the state does NOT mandate paying the salary for Proctors CEO, the state does NOT mandate narrowing Erie Blvd, the state does NOT mandate that cops and department heads be provided taxpayer funded cars to take their daily pleasure drives far outside of Schdy city and county, there is NO mandate that the taxpayers build new buildings or renovate buildings for millionaires downtown, etc. etc.   And I DEFY ANYONE to provide evidence to the contrary

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
