Once all three phases of construction are completed, the overall project construction
budget of $152 million is predicted to generate $219 million of economic output within
Schenectady County. This includes construction-related payrolls of $41 million creating
almost 1,000 one-year full time equivalent (FTE) jobs, with an average annual wage of
approximately $42,000.

Once all construction is complete, ongoing operations of the project is predicted to
generate almost $800 million of economic output within Schenectady County annually.
This includes $132 million in payrolls, approximately 2,800 permanent FTE (full time
equivalent) jobs. With this, the site will house 82 permanent FTE permanent retail jobs
and 43 hotel jobs.

$42,000/year with a mortgage in the city is a JOKE....

Construction jobs are temporary, workers don't live in the city if they are making decent money.

After it's done?   Lowly paid maids in a hotel that will largely remain empty because there is nothing in the city to come to and NO ONE is going to stay at a hotel just to take in a show at Proctors.

Then some low paid retail jobs?   What retail, no retail businesses are moving in as it is.

Apartments?   Uh, does the dem leadership realize that there is an overabundance of EXISTING VACANT residential units and they are vacant BECAUSE NO ONE wants to even rent in the city?   I mean, even the biggest cheerleader for the city and the dems refuses to move into the city

EVERY Metroplex 'prediction' has been fiction.

All these projects, jobs, etc....pure crap.

Whatever the Metroplex touches turns into a billion dollar taxpayer burden.

ALCO will be the sure death of every City taxpayer.

It is a great project.  A great reuse of this long neglected site.  It - along with other Metroplex projects - will be a major part of the continued RENAISSANCE of Schenectady County.

Only the nayboobs/constant critics who have never done ANYTHING to help build up or improve the community are opposed to this.  It seems that the nayboobs/constant critics would prefer that we go back to the days when Downtown was a ghost town and there was no hope for the future.

Again WHAT renaissance are you talking about?

Where is it?

Tell us what these projects have done for the tax base
Tell us what these projects have done to home values
Tell us what these projects have done to property taxes
Tell us what stores have opened downtown -- stores at which you can actually buy something other than alcohol
Tell us what these projects have done to the number of vacant residential units in the city
Tell us what these projects have done to the number of foreclosures in the city
Tell us what these projects have done to the amount of time it takes to sell a house in the city\
Tell us what these projects have done to the sale prices of houses in the city
Tell us what these projects have done to the desirability to live in the city, as indicated by the few houses sold
Tell us what these projects have done to the numbers of people trying to get out of the city as indicated by the increasing numbers of houses put up for sale

Now go ahead and not respond to this post, pretend I'm on ignore, read the questions and then not answer them because the truthful answers are answers that will prove these projects are a TOTAL WASTE of taxpayers' money.

And of course, you won't tell us when you are buying a house in the city.

So tell us WHAT will happen when the neighborhoods are a ghost town?    Have you seen the numbers of "for sale" signs?   Have you seen the numbers of houses that were occupied, then the for sale signs went up, and then the houses have been abandoned because no one wants to buy a house IN the city.

Tell us DV, despite your fairy tales  you post here, you have acknowledged the total failure of the dem leadership and the wasteful spending on metroplex projects - you have acknowledged failure by you not moving into the city.   Lowest home prices practically in a lifetime and mortgage rates at historic lows, and you STILL will not invest IN the city by buying and moving INTO the city.

You blabbed that you wanted a condo by the river and despite a place EXACTLY what you want to live in AND the specific location you claimed you would buy, you STILL have refused to do so.   That PROVES you are a liar.

Quite obvious that all your brown nosing to your buddy dems is failing because actions speak louder than words and your action to refuse to move INTO the city, despite how great you claim it to be in writing, is proof that you have no desire to come anywhere near the city, you won't even put your pinky toe into the city!

More Metrograft fiction. Another 5,000 jobs-lol. A renaissance at the packed food pantry, moving van companies and foreclosure attorneys. What retail is coming to the contaminated ALCO site?

The nayboobs idea of economic development is to leave buildings vacant for 25 or 30 or more years.

1.  Why not leave the buildings vacant for 25 or 30 years, they aren't contributing to the tax base, I trust you do know that?   We "nayboobs" know that the new and renovated buildings have caused a DRASTIC REDUCTION in the tax base combined with a DRASTIC INCREASE in taxes!

2.   So your idea of a vibrant city is a bunch of gin mills downtown and leave the residential homes in the NEIGHBORHOODS vacant for 25 or 30 years?   Yes?

Open your eyes, DV, see the TRUTH, the tax base has dropped, taxes are sky high, home values have dropped, people are fleeing in droves, even to the point of abandoning their houses altogether and NOTHING about downtown has resulted in people moving INTO the city, and the PROOF, the EVIDENCE of that FACT is that YOU, YOURSELF absolutely REFUSE to move INTO the city!!!!!
