If you build it, they won't come.

Notice the lack of actual people in modern downtown.

I remember downtown as it was in your top photo. Used to walk downtown with my grandmother as a child, stop in
St. Josephs church first thing, then go to Woolworths to look around and my "MIMI" would always order a root beer
soda with no ice, even in hot weather because "then you do not get any soda"     Of course the seats at woolworths
always packed for lunch, then we might go to Carls to check out the sales. Back then there were great stores to shop
in, lots of freindly people, and it built memories. The only thing the present downtown is building is our tax bills.

THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.

Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars thrown at downtown, homeowners taxed right out their home thru foreclosure, and the city can't even succeed at getting good retail business to come downtown, the type of retail for which you can actually buy soomething

I am in Downtown Schenectady (Nott Terrace to Erie Blvd & Liberty St to well down Broadway past Villa Italia section) almost every day (Monday through Friday) and there are many people coming and going from the various businesses and offices down there.   And since the student housing opened just off Lower State Street there has been a lot more foot traffic on lower State Street as well.   In fact, the other night - about 9:00 PM the Burger King on Erie was packed with students who walked over from the SCCC dorms.

Despite what the nayboobs/constant critics would like everyone to believe -- a lot of progress has been made Downtown and more progress is on the way --- there is a very real sense of vitality as slowly but surely more people are working Downtown and more people are living Downtown.    So the nayboobs can cry and stamp their feet all they want (actually they can just kiss my a** and jump off a bridge) but they  can't stop the RENAISSANCE that IS HAPPENING in Schenectady County.

but DV would NOT dream of providing proof.    Oh wait, he was stuffing his face at burger king.   Sure, kids want to eat the junk food, just like he does.   So a bunch of non-taxpaying kids, living off the taxpayer in their dorms and eating junk food which will cost us in taxes down the road when we have to pay for the health problems - that's all a good thing.  YEP

but he still cannot provide ONE TEENSY WEENSY SHRED of proof that spending money on downtown has accomplished ANYTHING that is was meeant to.

It was meant to increase the tax base, it actually caused a DRASTIC reduction in the tax base.
It was meant to reduce the taxes on the homeowners, it actually caused a DRASTIC INCREASE in taxes.
It was meant to improve the city so people would want to move here, it actually has caused people to FLEE from the city in massive numbers.
It was meant to impprove the city so people would want to live here, it actually has caused a DRASTIC INCREASE in the numbers of vacant and abandoned houses.
It was meant to encourage people to move here, but NONE of those lavish paid government workers has bought a house in the city.
In fact there is NOT ONE of any one who has taken in a show at the government theeater has chosen to move here.

Proctors own CEO has FLED FAR FROM THE CITY

Oh, now we know, he goes to eat at Burger King every day for all that junk food, that's why he's in the city.

In the city every Monday thru Friday, but he would NEVER provide any proof, i.e., dated photos.   He can't even provide ONE photo of showing people downtown (dated photo).

ALL of us who speak the truth about the results of the mis use of our tax dollars could provide oodles of photos each and every day.   How about it fellow "nayboobs," take your camera with you and venture into the city, take some photos, post them here, so DV can actually witness the truth that there are no people downtown

The streetwalker was probably the nayboob "Victor/Victoria".

Furthermore, I may add --- that the nayboobs are nothing more than terrorists that should be rounded up and imprisoned for slander and libel against the fine people who have worked overtime to make this Renaissance POSSIBLE!

There is no Renaissance, and the one's who should be in prison are the one's stealing the taxpayers money.
