yep, that new "priority" fee, as I stated in a previous post, yep, a family member dies, and in order to file with the Social Security, to notify SS of the death, to apply for life insurance benefits, etc. Such occurrences are NOT, I repeat NOT merely something that people casually want to get.
People might plan a trip to a foreign country and they may need a certified copy of their birth certificate, people do not wait until the last minute to apply for a passport or visa, so applying for a copy of such would obviously be fine in the "non-priority" situation. Someone doing family history does not need the documents immediately.
but when a person dies, it is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT and ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that the surviviors be able to have these documents as soon as possible, in fact, such certificates are usually provided to the survivors along with the box or folder of sympathy cards, remembrance cards, etc.
Here's the survivors who now have less income to pay the ever increasing taxes and fees in the city, but the city dems REFUSE to make their political cronies and downtown properties pay taxes, it's fine for those rich to not pay taxes, but the city dems say to the poor survivors of the deceased, "you need to file with whoever for benefits, well, you are a peon in the city, SCREW YOU, PAY UP!"
Funeral expense already are expensive, and in return for paying almost the highest taxes in the whole dang country, the city now wants to screw the people and make these financially struggling people pay even more for the funeral1

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
