Some people must be very desperate to find something to cry/complain about when they have to disparage a new business coming to their community.  They need to grow up and/or seek professional help.

So you are saying that financially strugglling homeowners need professional help when they complain about having to pay increased taxes to pay the property taxes of the millionaire owners, yes?

So you are saying that homeowners who lose their homes due to inability to pay the taxes of the downtown political cronies, need professional help?

How DV RONNIE ever wound up on the Rott Town plng cmte is beyond me.   Wonder if his colleagues know that he cheers for homeowners who lose their homes while the dem political cronies get rich

Some people are very desperate to sell their homes and move out of the high taxed hell hole city. So you are preaching to the wrong choir here. The rents are obvioulsy cheaper when the business don't have to include property/school taxes!! Unfortunately the home owners don't have that luxury when trying to sell their homes.

Again............do these THREE employees actually live in the city? Do they ride or walk through hamilton hill or mt. pleasant at night? Are they part of the schenectady residents who's children live in poverty?

Let's get real here.....k?

So you would rather see Downtown Schenectady empty -- like a ghost town -- the way it was a decade ago when the GOP was running the county and the city?
At least the city and county are turning around now -- there is still a lot of work to do but at least there is positive economic development news coming in on a regular basis now.

So YOU would prefer to see the neighborhoods empty -- like a ghost town

Turning around?  Spending millions of taxpayer dollars on downtown was supposed to increase the tax base.   But it has caused a DRASTIC REDUCTION in the tax base

Turning around?   Spending on downtown was supposed to make the city attractive.   But instead, homeowners are fleeing the city in in droves!   And houses are NOT selling.

Turning around?   Spending on downtown was supposed to improve the city, but instead, homeowners have seen their home values plummet far more than anything resulting from the economy.

Turning around?   Spending on downtown was supposed to improve things for the residents, instead, they are saddled with having almost the highest taxes in the whole country and are loosing their homes like there is no tomorrow!

Turning around?   Where is the retail moving into downtown?????    Huh?    Come on, ANSWER THAT QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!   The FEW places that have moved there did so because they were getting a new or reno building at taxpayer expense, and they were permanently exempt from paying taxes.

Turning around?    Tell us when the homeowners are going to get free money to fix up their homes and then be exempt from property taxes????

Your words are that the city is turning around, please provide the FACTS and EVIDENCE to support that

Of course. the Rott town plng cmte guy will not answer these questions.   It's easier to PRETEND to have people on ignore than to provide TRUTHFUL answers to the questions posted to him

Oh, you mean like this positive news?  Highest poverty rate(14.4%), lowest median household income($52,505) among capital region counties, and the highest poverty rate among the two largest cities(28%)

If the democrats stated goal is higher poverty rate and lower household incomes in return for tax breaks for millionaires, I guess you can say it is positive news.

Quoted Text
But in three instances, the county poverty rates went up from 2010 to 2011. Albany's rate rose to 13.8 percent from 13.7 percent; Saratoga County went to 6.8 percent from 6.5 percent and Schenectady to 14.4 percent from 11.3 percent.

Saratoga County has the region's highest household median income in 2011 at $64,250. Rensselaer County was next at $58,943, then Albany County at $57,062 and Schenectady County at $52,505.

The region's two largest cities, Albany and Schenectady, have estimated poverty rates nearly double their surrounding counties. Albany's estimated poverty rate for 2011 is 25.5 percent, while Schenectady's is 28.3 percent. Colonie, the region's most populous town, has an estimated poverty rate of 10.8 percent.

Very good point.    Of course, DV ignores that, but then we ALL know he will NOT answer questions; he spews this babble but will not elaborate on how three taxpayer funded jobs which cause an increase in property taxes which cause taxpayers to lose their homes which causes more blight in the city, and the need to increase taxes more when the city has the expense of maintaining the foreclosed properties in the meantime so that means more tax increases.   And on and on.   All because the dems exempt their political crony friends and millionaires from having to pay taxes, then 99.99% of the city suffers and DV cheers for three taxpayer funded jobs and REFUSES to explain HOW and WHY it's good to increase taxes on the homeowners--- but then, he's not a taxpayer and never has been.

Correct!  The property owner is getting the exemption.  Does the lease price reflect the exemption?  Is the savings passed on to the leasee or does Galesi charge the market rate which would be in the same range as other commercial office space in the area that pay taxes?  Does Galesi pocket the money he doesn't pay in property tax ?  The fact is, not ALL commercial space in Schenectady is exempt, and so the owners of commercial property outside of downtown area are at a huge disadvantage.  And at a bigger disadvantage is the resident that pays the extremely high taxes to subsidize these exempt property owners.

It would be a crime if this extortion was done by the mafia.

noooooo,,,,,it's called NYS.....like NYRA
