SECRETARY OF STATE FAINTS, SUSTAINS CONCUSSION

BY MATTHEW LEE
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sustained a concussion last week after becoming extremely dehydrated and fainting while suffering from a stomach virus, the State Department said.

The 65-year-old Clinton is recovering at home and has been advised by her doctors to continue to rest and avoid strenuous activity and cancel all work events for the next week. She had been scheduled to testify before a pair of congressional panels looking into the Sept. 11 attack against a diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya..............>>>>........................>>>>..........................http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/s.....=2012-12-15-12-28-49

Clinton accused of faking illness to avoid Benghazi testimony
By Paul Richter
December 19, 2012, 3:01 p.m.

The State Department slammed former United Nations envoy John Bolton over his suggestion that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton falsely claimed a concussion to avoid a potentially embarrassing appearance before Congress to explain the deadly terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya.

In an appearance on Fox News, Bolton said that Clinton’s claim that she had fainted because of the flu, hitting her head and suffering a concussion, was what foreign service officers call a “diplomatic illness,” intended to free a diplomat from an unpleasant duty. Clinton was supposed to appear before congressional foreign affairs committees on Thursday to respond to questions about whether security failures opened the way for the Sept. 11 attack...................>>>>.....................>>>>....................http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-clinton-faking-illness-benghazi-20121219,0,5649917.story

About as much news as your links to Think Progress.

Is she faking it?  Who knows, but I wouldn't put it past her. Either way she is still going to testify come mid January and already four of her top staff have resigned.

Clinton has been one of the worst SoS ever and just when you think it couldn't get any worse....John Kerry is going to take her spot.

Whether she's faking it or not.  During her campaign against Obama, she questioned whether Obama could handle the 3am phone call.  Apparently she couldn't answer that call in Libya, and now she is too ill to answer questions as to why she couldn't handle that call.

She is a failure.

Yadda Yadda Yadda... Hillary is a failure, just like I've read on this board that Obama is a failure.

And you'll probably post it again when Hillary wins the presidency in 2016!

Hillary is in a tough spot. If she does anything to save her own reputation it will only end up making her boss look bad, and if he looks bad he will not give her his support in 2016. She probably was not expecting his re-election after a terrorist attack, along with a ludicrous cover-up, right before. Who would've believed he would survive that?
Now that she's seen that enough people will buy any kind of snake oil he throws at them, she has to be in fear that he will give his support to someone
like Andrew Cuomo. He survived being the architect of the world-wide financial meltdown. If she doesn't have Obama on her side, all the dolts will support Andrew.
The Republicans will beat the bushes to find as many loonies as possible, and the winner of their primary will be the least insane one, so whoever the Democrat is that Obama picks will win the White House.

WASHINGTON — President Obama nominated Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts as secretary of state on Friday, choosing an elder of the Democratic Party’s foreign policy establishment and a crucial political ally in the Senate to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“In a sense, John’s entire life has prepared him for this role,” Mr. Obama said, making the widely expected announcement at the White House. “He’s not going to need a lot of on-the-job training.”

With Mr. Kerry standing at his side, the president praised Mr. Kerry’s combat service in the Vietnam War and his three decades in the Senate, which Mr. Obama said had placed him at the heart of “every major foreign policy debate for the past 30 years.”

Mr. Kerry, the president said, had also earned the respect of his Senate colleagues and he expressed confidence that Mr. Kerry would be quickly confirmed. In recent weeks, Senator John McCain, the Arizona Republican, has jokingly referred to his colleague as “Mr. Secretary.”

Mr. Obama’s first choice for the job, Susan E. Rice, the ambassador to the United Nations, asked Mr. Obama to withdraw her name last week after Mr. McCain and other Republicans threatened to block her nomination because of statements she made after the lethal attack on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya.

In addition to Mr. Kerry’s foreign-policy credentials, Mr. Obama noted that he had supported the president’s political career at key moments — not least, he said, by inviting a “young Illinois state senator to address the Democratic National Convention in 2004.”

Mr. Kerry, 69, was his party’s presidential candidate in that election, losing to George W. Bush. He is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has carried out several diplomatic missions for the Obama administration, helping to persuade President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan to agree to a runoff election in 2009. Early in the administration, he also tried to engage President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, who has waged a brutal crackdown on his own people as he fights to cling to power.

During the last campaign he also played the role of Mitt Romney in Mr. Obama’s debate preparations.

“Nothing brings two people closer together than two weeks of debate prep,” the president joked. “John, I’m looking forward to working with you rather than debating you.”

Mr. Kerry has long coveted the job of secretary of state.

Mrs. Clinton, who is recovering from the effects of a concussion, did not appear at the White House announcement.

“Hillary wanted very much to be here today, but she continues to recuperate,” the president said. “I had a chance to talk to her earlier today, and she is in good spirits and could not be more excited about the announcement that I’m making.”

Mr. Obama still has to fill two other key openings in his national security team, finding replacements for Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta, who intends to resign; and David H. Petraeus, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, who resigned in November because of an extramarital affair.
