St Claires was a very good hospital at the end, but they were smaller than Ellis and were years behind in their technology. Ellis was always a better hospital in terms of medical outcomes (and it still is good regardless of how many times you all say it isn't), but St Claires was more friendly, more people oriented. I miss it, wish it never closed, it was my hospital of choice, but it was never as "good" as Ellis.

What are the former patient floors at St Clares used for these days?? Or is it just empty?
I worked for St Clares part time during my high school and Jr college years. I remember the place fondly.

First the government placed unsustainable mandates on private insurance companies. The insurance companies raised premiums and cut reimbursment payments to medical facilities. That cause all medical facilities to cut costs, with was really cutting services.

Second, this all started during the (hillary) clinton years thru HMO'S...........so we can all thank them!! It was much better BEFORE the government got involved in our medical care!

That makes sense..
Up until their closing, St Clares still had a better maternity ward than Ellis.

St. Clare's was awful the last 10 years -- it was certainly not "more friendly, more people oriented" during the hospitalizations of 3 very close family members.  During that same time period, our family had much better experiences at Ellis Hospital.

folks wanted the 'medicine'/cutting edge stuff......you don't have to smile at me or even say hi...just tell me what
you think I need, I'll decide, you do it and our business is over....

folks have different views as to what 'good' is when it comes to being 'sick'....hell, folks have different views as to what
'sick' is......
