Are Puerto Ricans U.S. citzens?
Yes, Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens, and make up about 1.3% of the total population of the United States. They enjoy all the benefits of citizenship, save one: Puerto Ricans who live in Puerto Rico cannot vote for the U.S. President in the general elections (those who live in the United States are allowed to vote).

Really Bumble?  Do you mean that you don't notice the smell when you visit a home with smokers???

A while back, I was looking for a car for one of my kids.  The car was perfect... just what I wanted but
when I got in, it smelled like an ashtray.  Not just a faint scent of tobacco... but a stench of a dump fire.
I got in to take it for a test drive and turned around and told the dealer, "NO WAY".  He smiled and said
"yea I know... It belonged to a regular customer of ours.  We have the same problem selling all his cars."
He then offered me the car for $600 less.

THESE ANIMALS!!!  These smokers MUST BE STOPPED!  They are ruining perfectly good cars for their personal enjoyment.  How dare they not be considerate the person that might consider the odor offensive?  Sheeeesh!  Ban smoking in cars, it is the only sensible solution.

You're very persuasive box...

I agree they will continue to smoke although MHA is correct that some smokers destroy the apartments, the smoke will turn everything brown including the walls, floors, and appliances, those cases are rare but I seen some apartments you wouldn't believe the damage done by cigarette smoke.

Renovating the apartment to rent it back out will create jobs. Democrats looooove make work jobs, this would be right up their ally.

I'm afraid that FREEBREEZE doesn't solve the problem.

Lilac scented dog $hit, still smells like dog $hit.

In many hotel rooms who offer NON SMOKING rooms, there is a $200.00 fine for smokers who smoke
in a non smoking room.

Typically, Cicero gets it wrong.  No where did I promote banning butts.  There are other solutions to the
cigarette problem.

A good start would be to raise the tax on smoking products to compensate NY State for the actual cost
of smoking on the non smoking taxpayers.  NY State tax would have to equal over $10.00 per pack to
compensate the added cost of smoking illnesses paid for by taxpayers.
Reducing the number of smokers in the United States could save taxpayers billions (Not Millions, BILLIONS)
of dollars in Medicaid costs.  If they are going to smoke... at least they should pay the full cost of their
addiction.

New York State spends $8.17 billion annually on healthcare costs directly related to smoking;
$5.4 billion is the portion covered by the state's Medicaid program. The state and federal tax burden
from smoking-caused government expenditures on New York State residents is $894 per household.

That means every time a smoker lights up, ALL NY TAXPAYERS will pay for his 'choice'.  If you want to
smoke at least pay the real cost for your addiction.  Don't ask the rest of us to subsidize your habit by
paying your medical bills.

Smoke if ya want to... but BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN CHOICES AND PAY YOUR OWN WAY.

I look at this way, people have a right to damage themselves, UNLESS doing so can possibly damage others.
Diet choices, etc, are not one of those... Smoking is.

As far as diet choices causing all of us more insurance in costs, this is true. But if you open up that pandoras box, then you have to consider things like skydiving, car racing, whitewater rafting... add those to the mix and you've got the society in "Demolition Man"

Give me my tax money back that funds Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security, and I'll be happy to pay for my own medical costs.  That would be THOUSANDS of dollars of MY MONEY that I EARNED to pay for my medical costs.

So, to your point...LET ME PAY MY OWN WAY AND DON'T FORCE ME TO PAY THESE TAXES FOR COLLECTIVE MEDICINE.  There problem solved box.

Fine with me Cic.  I'd rather smokers paid their own way in health care.  All smoker should sign a health
care waver that proves they are capable of paying their own costs  ($500,000 minimum) when
their diseased, cancer ridden, emphysema choking stinking bodies shows up at a local ER.
No health care waver... no cigarettes.
The problem is solved, and all NY taxpayers get a $900 tax cut.
