SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Mont Pleasant Middle School in Schenectady was placed on lockdown for about one hour on Wednesday after a fight between students.
The Schenectady School District says a fight occurred between three students in the hallway around noon causing the lockdown. The lockdown was implemented as a cautionary measure to keep students contained until an investigation was complete. As a result of the altercation, two students were injured and taken to the hospital. The condition of the students is unknown at this time.
One student was taken into custody by Schenectady Police. Students involved in the altercation will be disciplined as per the Schenectady City School District Code of Conduct. When a school is in lockdown, it means that no one can enter or leave the building and that students do not move from class to class until the lockdown is lifted.
