I"m not sure what language you speak, but could you please provide a translator so others can understand what the hell you're saying?

If you're attempting Haiku, you're doing it wrong.

The regret of not going with one's basic instincts will haunt forever. As a parent/grandparent we are the caregivers..protectors...but our reach is only so far.

I don't disagree....calling the police is fine but an up close conversation with said creep by those PERSONALLY involved with
children present teaches them that they CAN do something about crap without waiting for the daddy government.

society can get it's balls back instead of waiting for 'them to do something' like the stupid 1000 foot rule....

society needs to take an up close a personal stance....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Additionally the up close conversation might reveal that said creep is in fact not a creep, pervert or criminal, and conceivably result in trust and friendship.

What was I thinking, of course not. Let's just shoot first, because there are no good and well meaning people in the world.

If the cops were not called, it could have become a witch hunt and we've seen how well those work out.

The police took all the info and made a determination based on facts not on emotions. The parents didn't take the law into their own hands. They did the right thing.

Could this man have approached a parent on the same block with the info instead of approaching a bunch of kids...yes.

Just think before you act folks...think a little.

what makes us think it's not a witch hunt just because we call the police.....our leaders have decided to use the terms
sex predator
sex offender

as podium pucks.....MAKING the issue emotional....they stir up the masses to get votes....then they like to invoke a 'pre-crime'
pre-emptive crap.....so UNAMERICAN

SHAME SHAME SHAME ON THEM.....

The college will absolutely deny liability or knowledge of these criminals when an SCCC student is attacked. It will happen. Placing bags of crack next to the reformed addicts always ends the same way. Maybe one will walk away, but there's 11 more that won't.

I think Cuba used that same argument with AIDS patients and homosexuals.  Castro isolated homosexuals from certain jobs and quarantined people that were HIV positive in concentration camps as not to infect the rest of the population.

NO-WRONG!  If they were concerned about the safety of children, the "LAW" should be the furthest of concerns.  Waiting for the LAW to respond leads to somebody getting hurt or worse.  The LAW is the process that is used to punish a person POST-CRIME.

Don't value police investigation over parental and personal instinct- it'll get someone killed.

I didn't say to isolate these predators, what I said was that the school and the public will not alert the new SCCC dorm inhabitants of the 13 sex offenders in their backyard.

Why? Because everyone has the right to privacy...even IF your info is on the sex offender registry. No one can step off the politically correct soapbox and offer even a slight warning that 13 rapist can see in your windows.

No one wants to get sued, no one wants to get arrested and when a group of parents get a little concerned that a stranger in a car is approaching a bunch of unattended kids at a bus stop it's hysteria.

Sorry, I don't know the recidivism rate for child molestors, but it's not low.

Rachel72, although I find debating with you tedious and feel I am talking to a wall, I must take you to task over the statement you made.

Do you have first hand knowledge of this? Where is the written report that states the school and public will not alert the students? Please, others here provide factual proof to their statements. You make accusations without proof. The term hysterical seems to be synonymous with Rachel72. Poor dear.

Look on the SCCC website. The the "Suite Life" brochure is lovely.

The news and press releases from the TU, Gazetto, YNN and CBS6 are all about moving in.

There is no SCCC newspaper, just many boards all over campus.

Personally, I don't see ANYTHING alerting students..but that would be wrong..right?

With the steady increase in crime in the City and the number of offenders in question, I'm totally surprised that we're having this discussion.

We're talking 13 offenders...13 child rapist...whatever...go drink the kool aide.

You do realize, "offender" may be something as simple as peeing on a sidewalk, or in a back alley, when you think no one is looking, then finding out there's a 13 yr old girl sneaking down the fire escape and she happens to see.  Never mind, too much info.

But, these "offenders" can also be women - Girls gone wild (yes, I've got all their dvds) , etc, right?

On the sex offender registry, it let's you know if they're a rapist, the age of the child/woman they violated, etc. Level 1 is peeing on the sidewalk. Most of the 2 and 3's have done far worse crimes.

Like I said, I'm not changing anyone's mind here. Guess that I AM emotionally vested with having young children and I will remain so. That's my over-protective nature and I hope it serves me well ....
