You just proved our point: 34 Democrats stopped the single payer Obamacare not Reps because they had the votes to do it DEMOCRATIC 219Y 34N REPUBLICAN 178N INDEPENDENT TOTALS 219 212
Obama was elected, more than any other issue, to pass health care reform. Of ALL developed countries in the world only three don't have Universal Health Care... The USA, Turkey and Mexico. The rest have health care for their citizens. Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
Health care reform has been an issue promoted by both Republican and Democrats presidents as far back as the 1950's.. Past presidents who attempted to pass health care reform include, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Clinton and now Obama.

Notice, how the master of spin, posts only the two years that it was a split-party congress (easier to blame bush - er the Republicans) - not the first two years of the administration where one party (shared with the presidency) controlled BOTH houses.
Remember the Blue Dog Democrats??? Conservative Democrats who would vote with Republicans on some issues??? Thankfully most have either left or were voted out of office.

As usual you didn't answer the question of how the Republicans stopped single payer Obamacare when the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress as you implied.
Extortion, coercion, bribery.
The Democrats that sided with the Republicans didn't do it for free.
The Democrats that sided with the Republicans didn't do it for free.
So you're saying the Demoncrats accepted bribes? (Isn't that a crime?) and were able to be victims of extortion? They must have had some BIG skeletons in their closets, eh?

Obama was elected because he didn't have an "R" next to his name on the ballot. Dukakis, Mondull, Gore, and Kerry all could have won in '08.

True 55Tbird, is was a country who was against Bush and many of his policies and would have voted for anyone who favored them and McCain was not a well liked candidate among a lot of Republicans or independents.
and something like the current public school system
That's right Senders... no kid would go with out health care... no mom would have to choose between prenatal visits and food on the table. No one would wait until it's too late for cancer diagnosis because they lacked health insurance. Awful huh!

no,,,it would become a stuffy old man that was outdated....because changing and evolving isn't something our public government systems are great at....as for cheaper cost...it won't happen.....it would become a national healthcare workers union....with layer upon layer upon layer of regulation/paperwork/audits etc etc.....
the words cheap/free/better do not equate to healthcare or education when 'managed' by 'the old man'
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
