By Paul Nelson

City Court Judge Guido Loyola has filed a notice of claim against Schenectady stemming damaged caused to his Chrysler convertible when a city worker backed into the front of his car, according to the city?s law office The claim, a precursor to a lawsuit, seeks $5,000 even though an estimate from a Schenectady body shop business provided by the jurist puts the damage to the 2004 Chrysler Sebring LX at $3,000. (Paul Nelson / Times Union)

SCHENECTADY — Guido Loyola is no stranger to Schenectady City Court.

Now the City Court judge is warning the city that he plans to be a plaintiff in a $5,000 lawsuit because another city employee wrecked his convertible.

Loyola filed a notice of claim against Schenectady stemming from an accident last month in which a city worker backed into the front of his parked car, according to the city's law office

The claim, a precursor to a lawsuit, seeks $5,000 even though an estimate from a Schenectady body shop business provided by the judge puts the damage to the 2004 Chrysler Sebring LX at $3,000. The reason for the discrepancy between the two numbers was unclear.

The judge declined comment Monday as he drove away from City Court in the Sebring..................................>>>>............................>>>>>  ........................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Judge-considers-suing-city-3872677.php#ixzz26opyDxLq

Just curious --was his car illegally parked on the sidewalk (as it appears to be in the photo) at the time of accident ?????   Not making any commentary or judgements -- just curious.

Judge, city near deal on damaged vehicle
By Paul Nelson
Published 9:26 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012

SCHENECTADY — A proposed $2,550 settlement, which Schenectady officials must still approve, is expected to resolve a legal dispute between the city and judge over a damaged car, a city attorney said.

Assistant Corporation Counsel Carl Falotico said Friday that the office had negotiated the deal with City Court Judge Guido Loyola, but still needed to formally send him the offer in writing.

The city arrived at the settlement figure by offering 15 percent less than the $3,000 estimate Loyola submitted to the city from a Schenectady body shop business to repair the front-end damage caused by a municipal worker to his car, Falotico said..........................>>>>.......................>>>>..................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/loca.....19.php#ixzz28hdKqwsq

This is just a glimpse of what the city will see in the coming years.  The price of being uninsurable.
