"The Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority has approved streetlight, sidewalk and other lighting projects in downtown Schenectady, New York, totaling around $135,000.
Metroplex said $19,500 has been budgeted for a new sidewalk on the east side of North Broadway, completing a project to connect the Proctors Block to lower Union Street via North Broadway.Metroplex will also spend $61,150 to replace nine streetlights on North Broadway.
Funding has been approved for new curb cuts and handicap-accessible ramps along State Street in front of Proctors. Handicap accessibility improvements will also be made on Broadway, at the crosswalk where the Metroplex garage meets Stratton Plaza.
The total cost for those improvements will be $10,000.
In addition, Metroplex approved $44,000 for the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting at the Metroplex garage. National Grid will contribute $107,465 to the project, Metroplex said.
The Metroplex board also will submit a grant application to the state Department of Conservation’s environmental restoration program. If the DEC approves the application, the state would spend $315,000 for the remediation of the last section of the Broadway Parking area. Metroplex would provide a 10 percent match of $35,000.
A cleanup and renovation of the Broadway South parking lot, funded by National Grid and Metroplex, is almost completed."
Can anyone who supports metroplex respond and tell us where the homeowners are supposed to get money from to replace their own sidewalks when they are paying for the sidewalks for the millionaires and politically connected downtown?
Of course, no answer
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
