A friend just informed me that Golub is buying the former Palma Lumber Company. He is friendly with someone who is currently involved with cleaning the property up before the sale and that is where his information comes from. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Interesting. I wonder what they plan on doing with the property. They no longer have a facility at the Curry Road Plaza correct? And I can't fathom them not having space at the warehouse facility.

Now they need Newberry knitting and the garages to add a motel.

Remember when they wanted to change who got the contract to develop the Curry Rd plaza?

Why would they want the property adjoining the Curry Center when they had that property and gave it to the town...something doesn't make sense. And how many acreas of land are we talking? Access to the propoerty sucks. Very interesting, but very confusing.

I don't think that Golub would be putting any kind of retail there, I would suspect rather some sort of a support facility. Before they divested themselves of the Curry Road Plaza they used a portion as a print shop. Yet as I stated earlier, I do find it odd that there wouldn't be room for further expansion at the warehouse facility. Oh well, no need to speculate. Time will tell.

So golub doesn't have any room at their present location which is right over the bridge from railex?

My thought exactly.

SueM2342, is your comment tongue in cheek or do you have first hand knowledge of the plan?

Palma lumber has an existing rail spur onto the property.  Plus it wouldn't make sense to locate such a a facility where there distribution center is.

That area will be a nightmare for drivers - most especially, trucks coming and going.

Who plans these things out???

If indeed SueM2342 is correct in the planned use for the site, I believe a bigger concern would be the storage of rotten vegetables and the odors and other health concerns involved. The area on the other side of the the railroad tracks is residential as is the area across Curry Road. Seems to me to be speculation at this point. Perhaps we should wait for more facts to emerge before passing judgement so quickly.

SueM2342, could you enlighten us further?

According to her post , "...the planning board has approved."  Maybe our resident Planning Board member would be kind enough to enlighten us without us having to file a FOIL. I don't recall even seeing this tiopic on the Planning Board or Town Board agendas....very mysterious.
