How about just hoping this is real and feel positive about it and can the negative crap..... oh wait....if it's not negative you'd have nothing to write about. How foolish of me.
I am optimistic because a) the developers have the financial backing .. which is something that the veterans group and the others did not have and b) they have an preliminary site plan proposals for the whole building .. not just a conceptual plan with no details like the vets group had or just a sketch of plans to do something with part of the building like the others did. The developers are doing a project with an old school in East Greenbush -- it is nearing completion This proposal for the Draper School building still has to go through the full site plan and other approvals. But I think that the proposal is on the right track. There are also other separate proposals for projects along the Guilderland Avenue corridor between the city line and "4 corners." My gut instinct is that these projects -- if done well -- will be the catalyst for creating an improved commercial area along that corridor and will really benefit that neighborhood. BTW -- I just found some of the proposals that we (the old Parks & Recreation Commission that Mr. Tommasone created and Godlewski, Buffardi and Calder killed) had for Memorial Park. It really would have made the park better and been a great tie in with the other improvements going on in the neighborhood. |

Quoted Text
October 30, 2013, 8:07am Quote Report to Moderator Quoted Text Fran Pugliese If we'd only known. Draper sold for $25,000. We Grads could have thrown in a few dollars & bought it. But then what? I hope the future bodes well for the old building which holds so many fond fond memories & few not so fond. It all remains to be seen. Like the Old shoe with so many children it didn't know what to do....I'm sure it can be used to do some good http://www.facebook.com/groups/239904902708944/
