I found these in Scotia in a field I been metal detecting this summer

The coin on the left I believe is the oldest of the bunch, you can't see it in the pic but it appears to be King George on the front, the 2nd coin is a dateless Classic Head large cent which would put it between 1808-1814. The 2 flat buttons are from England and are stamped Treble Gilt, these are both civilian buttons in my opinion. Next is a musket ball, not sure which caliber and then I have the 2 broken buckles, one is common but the other is pretty fancy None of these are worth much but I would rather see them above ground then rotting under the ground.

You should have them DNA tested to see if they contain native American blood residue.

Too bad they don't sell bone detectors.

When you find these kind of artifacts what do you do with them? Is the local museum or historians interested in them? Keep up the good work.

I don't bother with museums, I've read some horror stories about people donating items to have displayed only to not have them displayed and sold to private parties. One item I found which is a old boot pistol cannon barrel (also found in Scotia) I had the Schenectady historian look at, it probably belonged to one of the troops stationed near Glen Sanders Mansion. I ended up giving it to my friend who really liked it, which then he traded to a guy in Lake George who has it in his display.

Here is a picture of that barrel I found.

Here is what it used to look like, the way it broke the chances are he put to much powder in it and it blew up in his hand when he fired it

Too bad about the museums, you certainly have found some interesting artifacts. It saddens me that there isn't more interest in our local history, it's quite fascinating. Have you ever thought about a blog or website to display your finds? When you found the gun barrel did you find any bone fragments to support your theory LOL?

The artifacts that you uncovered are interesting.  I applaud your efforts to recover and preserve these important items from our past.
