I have a legitimate question that I can't find the answer to:  How is the city budget going to reduce the home values?

If you think houses in Schenectady are cheap, you should check Detroit.  Nice house I lived in in my earliest childhood on Dwyer St in Detroit, but that house we lived in is on the market for just $35,000.   I barely remember it, it was my youngest childhood but our family only rented it.

Schenectady is the next Detroit?  Ya, I'd believe that. Just look at the foreclosures - wiping out huge swatches of property that they HOPE to be able to sell to someone else (are the back taxes going to be forgiven?)

No one in their right mind would buy property in Schenectady until the taxes are reduced to an affordable level.

Per Carl Erickson"Scratching pennies from the cookie jar".   Indeed.   How about eliminating the perk of city vehicles being driven home, with some outside the city.   No doubt there are alot of "pennies" to be saved there.

Leave it to one of DV's imaginary "friends" to make a comment like that.   Well, one of his aka's.

So, why don't you go and buy that house?   No money?

Actually IF a certain dem cheerleader (for downtown) had a job and an income, thus allowing him to qualify for a mortgage, I'll guess if the house is as old as a senior citizen, then it's probably not a condo.  I doubt that DV would ever own a house where he has to do some work, like he said before, he wants a condo, which means not having any work, no maintenance, of course, that means not personalizing it, no privacy.   So I think he'd still prefer a condo in the Schenectady to something out there.   But since we won't see him having a job (unless he brown noses Mr Loren for a job), he won't even own a shack.

DV knows that Schenectady is failing, that's why he barely puts his pinky toe inside the city

The DEMS cut nothing. End all City vehicles and free cell phones. You want to work for the City? Bring your own vehicle and cell phone. They went ahead with the Erie nonsense that cost City taxpayers over $1 million and is crushing merchants. The DEM morons borrowed over $100 MILLION to pay for their excesses. 700 fewer properties will be paying in because of McCheese's idiotic foreclosure "plan". If you think it's not pulling down the entire County you're on crack. This causes your tax bill to go up. Just like when Proctor's, Center City and too many to list get permanent tax exemptions. We have a bunch of incompetent empty suits ruining the City. There are no more carcasses to pick over.

The good folks at Sunoco told me today that the plan for the roundabout has been CANCELLED - it's now just a tree lined street.

That's what the cashier and manager told me, as they understand it from the latest info they've been giving.

I thought Mayor McCheese was a job creator? Now he is going to layoff the same idiots that pushed him on the sheeple. Bring on the State Control Board. The City DEMS morons are incapable of budgeting, managing, nor administrating. More taxes and foreclosures will turn it around. They don't need no proven administrator from Union College. They prefer a lifelong hack who is an expert on padding his own pension and raising every tax and fee. Keep the DEM machine going!

Wasn't this the reason why the Another World Bookstore had to be seized, for the roundabout?   If this info. is true it was a ploy to rid  Erie of the bookstore only, not for the roundabout.   No other business was seized.   Deceitful?.   Once Erie is completed the shortcutters through the city will have a most scenic route to traverse, as they drive home TO THE SUBURBS.

Cities like Schenectady give a 'flavor' to the next folks up for election

Mayor cutting 7 jobs from Schenectady workforce
Thursday, September 27, 2012
By Kathleen Moore (Contact)
Gazette Reporter

SCHENECTADY — Mayor Gary McCarthy is unilaterally cutting seven jobs from the city workforce, although the City Council voted on Sept. 10 to stop those layoffs.

At least four of the seven workers will be able to “bump down” to vacant positions. Others also have bumping rights but might push another employee out of the workforce. McCarthy said he believed bumping could be done in such a way as to keep every current employee in a job, because there are a number of vacant positions at the bottom of the ladder.

Among the jobs being eliminated is Michael Burke’s position as park director. Others are in the Bureau of Service, where McCarthy said he has four supervisors overseeing 12 to 16 workers.

He doesn’t need that many supervisors, he said.

“It’s an ongoing review of city operations: what’s necessary, what isn’t necessary,” he said. “Some of these [positions] are less critical than others.”

The positions will be cut on Monday.

So why have the council vote when the vote dosen't matter anyways?  Maybe the sales tax vote shouldn't count either.
