Building across from Schenectady City Hall sells for $595,000
The Business Review by Michael DeMasi, Reporter
Date: Thursday, August 30, 2012, 6:40am EDT

Michael DeMasi
    Reporter- The Business Review

A New York City investor bought a six-story building across from City Hall in downtown Schenectady, New York, for $595,000.

Vytas Meskauskas bought the building at 100 Jay St
.
and said he will probably ask the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority for financial help to make improvements.

“I need some money for renovations,” Meskauskas said. “This building needs some work.”

He said the upper floors have single-room apartments that he wants to convert into larger living spaces.

There are three retail spaces on the ground floor, with one occupant, Jay Street Laundromat.

Meskauskas paid half the listing price of $1.2 million.

The property was formerly owned by Amrit Dabie and Seerojnie Dabie, according to the city assessor’s office.

The property was listed for sale by Subhash D. Sukhram of First Class Realty Enterprises.

The building was built in 1960, has 4,762 square feet and 38 units. There is office space on the second floor.

Wait, I just looked at the calendar - it's not April 1st.  Seriously? Across from city hall for $600k?  I would have thought that whole block side would have sold for less.

MC1, what was the assessment on that building? (just curious)

$654,000

"Paid have the listing price...."    The owner obviously looked at what the assessment was, calculated what the alleged market value is per McC's claim that "HE" reduced values in the city by 4%, and still offered less than that.

So, what about the financially struggling homeowners who need to make improvements on their houses in the city, those homeowners who the city is citing them for code violations and then assessing a penalty for not making the repairs?????

Where is the money for the homeowners to make the renovations/repairs?      DV, can YOU answer that?????   Since the homeowners are footing the bill for these rich owners/developers, maybe you, DV, can tell us when the homeowners will get some help??????

Oh, that's right, DV won't answer those questions.   He cheers for making homeowners pay higher taxes to pay for all this stuff downtown, but he REFUSES to explain how homeowners are supposed to make the repairs on their own homes.

It's getting so bad for the homeowners in the city, proof positive that plex and the dems are ruining the city, that DV doesn't even post much anymore, and HE WILL NOT POST DIRECTLY ON THE ISSUES AFFECTING THE HOMEOWNERS.

It's so nice and quiet without DV posting much, he obviously realized that whatever he says is proven a lie, and we "nayboobs" have the EVIDENCE to prove him wrong.

Something fishy going on here.  Wouldn't it be SO Schenectady if suddenly the county or city wanted to buy this block for expansion of offices or the court system ...

Something doesn't smell right.

Everybody knows that schenectady is the 'give-a-way' city!!!! It robs from the working class and gives to the rich or welfare recipients. Talk about squeezing the middle class dry! The liberal nut jobs have created a substandard, uneducated culture, while the rich get richer.....alll at the taxpayers expense.

Well, if it bought it knowing that it needed work and he didn't have enough of his own money, then he shouldn't have bought it.

Naw, that would make too much common sense!

Lol, Metroplex money is his money.  Nobody builds it themselves.  You expect him to "build it himself"?  That Money you earned in your paycheck isn't YOURS.  It is for the collective good.  They only allow you to borrow that money.  When the rightful owners of that money come to collect it, you just thank them for letting you borrow it and getin the bread line.

The rest of the block is still for sale especially the restaurant and office supply store that fled last year. You think the DEM morons would see this when they attend meetings twice a month. The City must be taken over by a State Control Board. McCheese and the other machine operatives have no business nor budgeting experience. Too used to signing the back of a bloated public paycheck.

The only problem is that nobody would believe the idea of me jumping sides of the fences.  Unlike some people, I don't sit on the fence.  I pick a side.

What is more important

Fixing the problem

Or

What people think of you

The committee is the secret to the process not the actual election

It just might be fun to see quail and bursard squirm in their chairs - they know the 99% and the NTP wont work work
