Fumes close Center City for weekend

SCHENECTADY — Center City will be closed as a precaution this weekend after fumes from the gymnasium floor at the YMCA caused the building to be evacuated Friday evening.
The Y was in the process of refinishing the gym floor with poly urethane when several gym-goers became bothered by the strong and unpleasant fumes.
The Schenectady Fire Department responded to the first floor facility around 6:40 p.m. to inspect the area, and contacted the building manager about airing out the State Street complex.
As a precautionary measure, the building will be locked down until Tuesday except for janitors and workers finishing two more coats on the gym floor.
“They anticipate more issues with fumes,” said Deputy Chief Michael Gillespie. “So rather than deal with clients being bothered by the fumes their plan is to keep the building shut down.”
Mohawk Ambulance Service ar rived to the scene Friday evening All occupants of the building declined treatment, said Gillespie.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
