These "students" are adults and are capable of making a decision based on research

And are capable of sending a "message" to government

"students" have done this before

Wonder if SCCC informed their students of the 13 sex offenders in their back yard...or that an SCCC student was killed crossing Erie recently??

Barrier walls...what a JOKE! SCCC should have been smart enough to construct some safe structure (covered bridge...open bridge...whatever) to safely get these students to campus!

SCCC is as bassackwards as the City is. It takes a tragedy for anyone to act responsibly.

These students don't know what they're facing between the criminals next door and the insane traffic.....and no one is telling them anything.

EXACTLY! Because it run by the same DEM morons! Death Ray is on the bored. SCCC President is on a world tour with Eric Elys looking for any other job. Pro-tax stooges Margaret King and Denise Brucker were "administrators". SCCC was a cost efficient community college for local students. It does not need dorms for so-called "athletes". Prediction-the same sad result as in FMCC where students destroyed the dorms in five years. Costing their taxpayers hundreds of thousands.

There was no need for this taxpayer funded fence because there was no need for the taxpayers to pay for such lavish dorms, or any dorms for community  college kids.   The kids should be living at home, or if they don't want to live at home, they should be working part time and paying rent in a normal apartment.   Instead, the cost of dorms added on to the tuition means more taxpayer money being paid for all the taxpayer funded grants for college expenses.

Plex shelled out 10K plus for the fence.   How does this qualify as economic devl.?   But suppose if college paid for it, it would of come out of same pot as coillege is partly subsidized by the County.   $$$$$ go round.    Taxpayers-County-Plex-College-Plex-County.   Much like the college giving the Plex $50K for Center City parking this year.   All in the same pot.   FYI-Student loan debt has surpassed combined credit card debt.   Now stands at over a TRILLION $$$$$.   Can forsee much not getting repaid, but it stimulates the economy-Teachers hired/kept employed,Dorms built/rented,Bldg. materials sold, office furniture,Computers, etc.   You get the idea.

You would of thought the original architecture plan would of foreseen this dilema of crossing safely.   What with the learned aptitude that architects possess.   But wait maybe they did and decided to let someone else pay for the solution.   It's only a matter of time/tragedy before a crossing bridge wil have to be built.   Of course at taxpayers, via Plex, expense.   All it will take is for some highly publisized near tragedy/tragedy to speed it along.   After all if the worst happens this will be a threat to the Dorms. rental occupancy.   So the County/City will be forced to clean up the mess to appease the Devl. of the Dorms and the Students/Parents.   Cannot foresee parents wanting to enlist their children in an unsafe zone.   Which brings one to the point about the Sex Offenders notification.   To be fair to the student body would'nt it be better/fair to give an informed awareness heads up to the students so they might be more aware of their new surroundings?   After all isn't this why colleges exist to teach AND inform?   We would try to get as much info about the surrounding area of any school not just SCCC where our children were choosing to be housed.   Yes you can hope for their safety, but one can fare better with all the facts so as to make an informed decision.    It's not only fair but it's the right thing to do.

I will say this. I have been to Kingston NY a few times recently and it makes you wish you were back in good old Schenectady.

Broadway is not safe after dark, hookers drug dealers, gangs, homeless people sleeping openly all along the main road, etc.

Kingston used to be the original Capital of New York State.

Now it ranks right up there with Schenectady as one of the crime capitals of the state.

Coincidentally, they also have a historic stockade district and their version of Proctors, known as the Broaday theater.

like the locust the folks moved to Saratoga...but they do like to do their 'good deeds' in Schenectady

If parents were concerned about their kids lives, they would never let them reside in downtown.
