The ceiling was indeed refurbished in 1997. However a portion was not done due to financial and time constraints. The section currently being done is the section that was left undone. It is approximately 1/3 of the entire ceiling. They are not redoing the entire ceiling.

Okay you got me.  After this "investment" Proctors will pack the house and will sell out every show.  They will then be able to remove their mouth from my, and my fellow taxpayers teat!

Geeze its not even " real " gold. Its imitation gold leaf. Real gold does not need a clear coat. Feel better?

Not really.  The amount of money thrown into this place is ludacris.  The ceiling was good as is.  It isnt going to increase ticket sales, it isnt going to make Proctors more valuable and pay more/any taxes, it isnt going to create more jobs.  It might be a good thing to do, the right thing to do but now isnt the time.

DV will state how wonderful, how important the golden calf is, but he will refuse to explain WHY people MUST lose their homes in exchange for a lavish theater that has done NOTHING but cause a DRASTIC REDUCTION in the city's tax base

But actually, DV isn't even bothering to post here anymore.   It's much too embarrassing for him to post when the city is falling apart thanks to the DEMS.   It's much too embarrasing for him to post anymore when the substantial reduction in the tax base proves that downtown has not helped the city in the least, and he can't provide even one teeny weeny shred of evidence to the contrary.

so it's just easier not to post at all when you are always wrong

Another slap in the face by Fat Morris. While the City is going broke he wastes more money on ceilings. Pay yourPILOT! Union College, Ellis and Boys and Girls Club all pay but this fat slob refuses to pay anything. Put on a tie
and act like administrator. Emphasis on act. Don't forget to attend his hilarious anniversary ceremonies when he canpretend he gives a crap about the rapped taxpayers. Hooray for me-F#@$ you!

Hundreds of foreclosures
Taxes highest in almost the whole country
Home values plummeting
Tax base DRASTICALLY reduced
NO ONE wants to move into the city and buy a house
Crime the highest in the state
Schools worst in the state

This is what YOU call a renaissance??????   Explain HOW

Come on Ron, don't hide behind other names in your attempt to brown nose your fellow dems.   Just come on here and post the details, the EVIDENCE showing HOW downtown has resulted in a better city.  Show us the tax base, show us the proof in home values, show us the proof in desirability to move into the city, show us the proof via lower crime, show us how the schools are so wonderful,

Oh, that's right, Ron the Rotterdam planning board member and a DEM has NOTHING to say, there is NO EVIDENCE evidence whatsoever that Ro9n can provide that shows how the city (not downtown) is improved as a result of the dems wild uncontrolled spending on downtown.

And as DV can provide NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER, he doesn't even bother posting on the issues of how bad the city is, it's much too embarrrassing to admit he's wrong.   Too chicken to respond   (unless he tries to claim he's not these other people)

Anyone take notice in the Gazette the other day that it was announced that the little confectionary store in front of Proctors has closed.   They replaced the departed Northeast Jewerly store who had departed earlier.   Mr.Morris stated in the article not to worry, a replacement business would soon be installed at the vacated site.

shocking. It reminds me of how they had endless news stories on these places going in...where are the stories on the closures?

These businesses keep repeating each other.

They fail one after another, even with tax breaks, grants and loans.

Sooner or later the money trail will get the metroplex in real trouble.
