Did you see them on the news today re the foreclosures, they "don't know how they are going to handle it."

Did they ever think about this before making a decision?

Councilman Riggi said he'll have the mayor on speed-dial (when residents call him about typical things they would call a landlord about.

No plan for these properties, just like they had no plan with how to get tax revenue from over-burdened homeowners when they chose to exempt the wealthy and politically connected downtown from paying taxes.

Yeah, I trust even DV has to agree with me, I mean did you see the guy who is on the foreclosure list who has been trying to sell his house and NO ONE WANTS TO BUY A HOUSE IN SCHENECTADY, so his house will be foreclosed on because he can't afford the taxes.

Wake up you dems!   The homeowners cannot afford to pay the taxes of the wealthy and politically connected downtwon.  IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ALL tax exemptions from downtown buildings and STOP taxing residents for the cost of building and renovating buildings downtown.  The homeonwers can no longer afford it!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Let me get this straight.

The city raised taxes so much they caused foreclosures that they can't afford to deal with.

I guess the obvious solution would be to raise taxes to cover the taxation caused foreclosures.

Yep, that should do it.

This happens in every North East City-right Karl? Another half baked idea from the fully baked DEM "machine". Even the renters are complaining about the high taxes which mean high rents. Just like Obama they have no clue. But at least he can act the part.

The City DEMS have $106 MILLION in accumulated debt. McCheese refuses to cut anything nor budget. They don't even talk about the 700 foreclosures and collapsing real estate market which means much less revenue. Bring on a State Control Board and City bankruptcy. The City keeps rolling over debt and repaying nothing. Even the Gazetto is now calling for a State Control Board.

It is WORSE than no plan. It is a plan to let it burn and let someone else pick through the charred remains.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Let's see...the City and County open up its arms to hundreds of non-profits. Many of which have not paid for garbage/sewer/water etc.

And WHY do we open up to so many non-profits? Could the free-flowing DSS benefits have anything to do with it? Now we have an influx of poverty, crime and dangerous areas that keep the poor poorer. Even the school system can't graduate the masses.

Ontop of this, we bribe for-profits with taxpayers money to move here so that they don't have to pay taxes.

Also, include the nursing home which will not be getting as much State money as the drooling County Leg was hoping to grease their sweaty palms with.

So, the taxpayers in the City support the

-DSS PO Box receipients
-The non-profits using hundreds of City buildings and skipping out on their water/sewer/garbage bills
-The for-profits giving millions in grant money, no-interest loans, a tax-free ride and paying their water/sewer/garbage bills
-Put ontop of this the 600 foreclosures

There is NO WAY middle/lower class homeowners along with the small number of for-profit businesses not on the Plex payroll can support such a HUGE taxpaying burden.

The only DEM plan was  ---- use homeowners as ATMs. The well is dry.

EXACTLY! There are no carcasses left to pick over. How bad is it? Nonprofits are screaming because donors have fled and they can't pay even water and sewer taxes. Like the YWCA. Like dozens of churches. Renters at at the Council rail complaining about high rents due to insane DEM taxes. McCheese should have cut all nonessential services 30% in his first budget. He did nothing. Karl Erickson, head of the Council Finance did nothing. The all DEM moron Council did nothing. Now all the chickens have come home to roost. Gov Cuomo please establish a State Control Board.
