A couple of years ago we went to a hazardous waste collection that was being done on curry rd. signed up ahead of time and brought some old paint. By the time we got to the front of the long line they could not take any more.

Anyways I called the Sch'dy County Hazardous waste today and they do have a few more days scheduled for drop off this year BUT now Sch'dy county residents must get a permit first.

Or open the can, let it dry out and then put it in the garbage with the lid off.  As long as the lid is off and it is dry they have to take it.

Or donate it to the city.  They cant afford paint anymore.

There's a railroad bridge or two in the city that needs painting. I'm sure they wouldn't mind, everyone else does.

I suggest that the nayboobs have eaten too many lead paint chips -- thus their sickening inability to carry on a normal conversation with intelligent adults..   Perhaps you should just drink the rest of the paint along with your lunch.

We have always left the old paint cans open so the contents would solidify, then put them out for the trash man. There has never been a problem with their removal.

I have ALOT of cans will take the advice of letting them dry, don't know about the oil based though?

I did contact environmental clearing house but because some of the paint is more than two years old they said we cannot donate it to any non profits.

Safe Paint Disposal: How to Get Rid of Old Paint

How to recycle or dispose of Oil Paint

Oil paint in liquid form is considered hazardous waste for several reasons. The petroleum solvents
are highly flammable, and the other components can be toxic to inhale. As with the latex paint,
the best solution is to buy only what you need and use it all up.

If you don't have another use for the paint and have 1/3 of a can or more, leave it in the original
container and donate it to one of the charities listed about. Oil paint is great for to covering graffiti
and can be donated to the police department or Parks and Rec graffiti teams.

Like latex paint, once the oil paint has dried, it can be safely tossed in the trash can with lids left off.

Don't take the lid off of oil/alkyd based paint and let it evaporate. You can do that with water based/latex paints. If you have good oil paint and can't find an agency to take it- contact me b/c I sometimes have a use for it.
