Rupert Murdoch Tweets Support For Gun Control
Posted: 07/21/2012 11:44 pm Updated: 07/21/2012 11:47 pm

Media baron Rupert Murdoch took to Twitter Saturday evening to express his support for gun-control measures in the wake of the Aurora, CO shooting that killed 12 people on Friday:

We have to do something about gun controls. Police license okay for hunting rifle or pistol for anyone without crim or pscho record. No more

The words may come as a surprise to observers, since Murdoch's Fox News traditionally espouses a pro-gun viewpoint.

In the aftermath of the massacre, during which suspect James Holmes allegedly used a range of firearms, the issue of gun control has re-emerged into the national spotlight. But while a small number of political leaders, like New York City's Michael Bloomberg and New Jersey's Frank Lautenberg have vocalized their support for it the political climate for any kind of legislation is forbidding.....................>>>>..................>>>>...............http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/21/rupert-murdoch-tweets-support-gun-control_n_1692437.html

City with strictest gun control laws has most officers killed by gunfire

Chicago Mayor's Failed Social Policies Continue to Cost Citizens

By Mike Bauman

The City of Chicago has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation.  Up until a few months ago, it was illegal for a private citizen to own or possess a handgun anywhere within the city, including in one’s own home.  For 2010, Chicago also holds another distinction.  More Chicago Police Officers were killed by gunfire this year than any other police agency in the nation.  The city also boasts one of the highest violent crime rates in the country, with 1 in 89 residents being victims of violent crime last year.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Inc., the City of Chicago had five police officers killed in the line of duty this year.  Four of those were killed by gunfire.  This, despite the fact that until June of this year, Chicago did not allow the licensing of handguns.  In order to lawfully possess a handgun in Chicago, a citizen was required to have a license.  In effect, the Chicago law banned having any type of handgun.

No gun control laws or regulations would have stopped this massacre, if he took motivation from anybody it would have been the SWAT teams that dress and arm themselves in the same fashion.

I say we impose plane control laws. Everyone knows the damn things fall out of the sky and end up killing hundreds.

I second that, and while we're at it let's ban those pesky autos, 'cause we know how dangerous they are

Planes fall out of the sky in the USA at about the same rate as every where else on earth...
How about gun deaths???

Suppose planes fell out of the sky in the USA at about 9000 times the rate of other countries...
would that be acceptable????

Well, there has to be a line where certain weapons are  illegal. For instance you don't want your neighbor having chemical weapons or tank in their yard. At the same time gun control is a limitation on freedom. I can see both sides of this argument. I guess I agree with the mayor, hunting rifles, and pistols for self protection seem logical. Semi automatic assault rifles don't. They are specifically designed to kill large numbers of people fast.

And what is your point, the 2nd amendment isn't about hunting or just defending yourself, it has to do with defending the freedoms of everyone against tyranny, that means usually a stronger and better armed force.

But those same laws protect the insane.  The laws could be changed... but there is a powerful group (THE NRA)
that insures the rights of the insane to carry weapons.

Why do police forces have them then?  Do they plan on killing large numbers of people?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and
bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

I always wanted to go hunting with a RPG.  It would cut down on the misses and wounded animals (so very
humane) and it would save time by killing the prey, gutting and skinning it all in one easy process.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  My rights under the 2nd amendment guarantee my right to own and
shoot a RPG!
(and as an added bonus... I could defend myself against my government)
