When comparing the two wealthy men. If one is rich at $11.8million the other is EXTREMELY Rich at $200 million..
the second is 20 times richer than the first.

comparing themselves to each other....the rest of us 99% consider BOTH men EXTREMELY rich....by our definition
of course....

who deserves to have their riches plundered?

Splitting hairs I see...

The simple fact is , even stopping at the 1 million threshold, that's the top 1%, and the rest us are the 99% (geez, where have I heard that phrase before?).
i.e. I consider the top 1% of race horses, baseball players, and singers to be extremely good.
We are not talking comparing him to his peers, or comparing him to the average American.

It's just a simple question to ask the average American. Do you consider a person with a net worth of 11.8 million to be extremely wealthy? If you're honest, you know what the answer is.

I think your assumptions are way off Tbird...
When measuring wealth in America... 1% OWN ALMOST HALF of the WEALTH.

What assumptions Box? Keep trying to re-direct... but it doesn't change the reality.
Obama is wealthier than 99%+ of the US population...That IS reality.

When you ask those 99%+ if the top 1% are extremely wealthy, I'll take anything you want to put up as a bet on what the answer would be.

All wealth accumulated by the 1 percent is largely due to government favoritism and regulations that allow them to get rich at the expense of everyone else.

And Yes, Obama is part of the 1 percent. Obama has only recently joined the 1 percenters club.

Romney and his family have been there for their entire lives..

I've been looking for how much wealth does it take to be in the top 1% but I can't find it.  I would
assume that a pissy $11 million wouldn't even come close.

Here is a view into the top of the top 1% who all are wealthy, and the EXTREMELY WEALTHY, which
is what we are discussing:
The 400 Richest Americans Are Now Richer Than the Bottom 50 Percent Combined.  That top 400, by
the way, represents .0000035 percent of all households in the United States.  The EXTREMELY RICH.

Well, you didn't look too hard, and your assumption is wrong... I found this in about 30 seconds
http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/17/measuring-the-top-1-by-wealth-not-income/
The top 1% in net worth starts at 8.4 million. The top 1% in income starts at $380,000.
By either measure, Obama is in the top 1%..case closed.

I'm not talking about your definition of extremely wealthy, which would probably be anyone in the top 1% who isn't a Democrat. I'm talking about what the average American considers to be extremely wealthy...again, I'll take any bet you want that it starts at least at the top 1%.

Income and wealth are two different things.  I originally posted wealth... Your numbers show $8.4 million... I expected much
more.

That's right...and according to the qualifications, Obama is top 1% in both.
They aren't my numbers, they're the NYTimes.

just because someone is given a 'wealth of money' doesn't mean they have a 'wealth of brains' of what to do with it.....

wealth is a multitude of things all put together.....

some folks think that a continuous flow of 'wealth of money' allows them continual access to scratch offs and lotto numbers
certainly doesn't constitute a 'wealth of brains'.......

although I do agree that there is a very small number of folks with 'wealth of money' apparently that is all they are concerned
about....and it doesn't matter which party is in charge of that wealth...why? because neither party/owner of that
'wealth of money' is parting with it.....maybe a requirement to be a legislator and world shaker should be to take that
'wealth of money' and just toss it to the wind....that would take less than a 'wealth of brains'....

again our poor folk are so fat.....

Blacks were "BLESSED" to be slaves!

"The institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people
may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and
circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established
upon the face of the Earth."
