Most of the people up to Camp Bisco are there for the music and a good time but when you have 12,000 people gathered there are bound to be some bad apples in the bunch.

I was at Ellis today and the docs there were genuinely concerned about the number of OD coming from Camp Bisco. I heard rumor of 13 dead, but it was not verified information and could be completely wrong. I do know the cardiology service has seen a large number of kids (teens and early twenties) with MIs, elevated troponins, elevated CPKs. There are also a lot of renal problems. Most of the docs believe that there was some sort of bad lacing going on. The issues are more severe than just normal ODs. I heard reports (again not verified) of people spraying LSD from squirt guns.

I've personally only ever heard of Camp Bisco as being a drug feet that also has music. I'd be skeptical of anyone whois saying they are going only for the music.

if that was even close to being true, every news outlet in 9 counties would have it blaring 24/7........................don't believe everything you hear

Well the doctor seemed baffled that there wasn't more about it on the news. He was trying to call in the state to investigate what was going on up there, but wasn't getting much of a response from anyone.  He seemed concerned that word would get out about the extent of injuries/issues and that if he didn't report it to some higher authority that he would somehow be held liable. They had seen about 30 kids with cardiac problems and were told that St. Mary's in Amsterdam had seen around 40-50.

The number of deaths is total rumor based on what people coming from the festival were reporting. I couldn't find any confirmation and also think that if it were that high it would be more highly reported. There is a lot of carnage coming out from there though.

I only heard of one death. Had it been 13, it would be national news.
I have no doubts about the renal failure thing though.
Many are doing X-Tacy, which is known to dehydrate the body big time, and couple with that, the heat, and the fact that pretty much any liquid available, you have to pay for and I'm surprised people weren't keeling over en-mass.

Why stop at music festivals? Ban any gathering of more than 4 people, unless each individual has insurance..............

they have done this with 'home daycares'...if a woman chooses to stay home and watch other kids and share this
responsibility with other women who would watch the kids later..THEY HAVE TO REGISTER AS A DAYCARE AND
BE INSPECTED....EVEN IF YOU DON'T TAKE $$$

The camp should set up a MASH unit on site.....

info/experience as yourself....they are just as ignorant as you.....

The attendance numbers are all over the place, but using the low estimate of 12,000 (the high number I read was a ridiculous 30,000) it would appear that 11,950 (apprx.) were smart enough not to overindulge................the 50 or so dumb asses who required emergency treatment (btw not all the emergency treatment was drug related) hopefully will be made to pay for that emergency treatment.

At many of the bluegrass festivals I attended over the years (during weather conditions pretty much the same as this weekend) there were always a number of dehydration evacuees............the difference was in most cases the culprit was alcohol.....................I'm sure there was plenty of that in M'ville this past weekend also..............................common sense isn't necessarily a trait that's practiced much any more.

I've done sound for an awful lot of outdoor concerts over the years, and 30,000 people isn't that much at all.

Ain't that the truth. People need to be responsible with their irresponsible activities!

The cases that I was talking about were all ODs...the cardiologists don't really deal with breaks, etc.. I'm sure the ortho people had their own mess to deal with, and I'm sure the ER saw plenty of other issues as well. I just know that there has been real concern that these cases may have more to do with taking the "wrong" drugs than too many drugs.

unfortunatly, a lot of these people are young kids who aren't on mom and dad's insurance anymore..a lot of self pay...a lot of non-local people...my gut tells that a lot of the bills are not going to be paid...could be wrong though!
