GE officially opens battery plant, announces expansion plans
They are putting in another $70 million in equipment to ramp up manufacturing, and hiring another 100 workers to build more batteries. The plant is now up to 450 employees.
From the Gazette
Okay....so in May of 2011, Metroplex and Gary McCarthy said GE had 350 employees at a battery plant which they claimed were part of the 4,000 jobs created by the plex....but now we know that the battery plant just opened in July of 2012.
When are these 100 new employees coming? 2014? Then the Gazette will run another story about the 450 GE employees at the battery palnt which were created years ago?
Did the 100 GE solar jobs come here yet? I don't believe so.
GE really knows how to fudge numbers better than Gillen.
GE only does what's best for GE, any positive outcome for where there facilities are located is purely accidental. Shouldn't GE also be paying taxes on the large profit they make every year?
They're pretty much untouchable, and do what ever they want, just like the rest of the hallowed elite in the defense industry.

Wrong again Box, it called corporate greed, remember Imelt is not right wing.
GE Does what's good for GE. According to "Conservative Right Wing Free Market Capitalism", that's how it's supposed to be... with no interference from govt. GE among others, suck up our Tax Dollars and do what makes them the largest profit, with out regard to the effect on the community.
GE will tell you... "Our First Responsibility is to Our Stockholders"... pretty much, it's their ONLY responsibility.

Box, your thread is old, recycled news. These jobs have already been figured in the Plex job creation during McCarthy's mayoral campaign. This is not new nor even newsworthy .....
My post had nothing to do with "Plex job creation" or McCarthy.
again... GE officially opens battery plant, announces expansion plans
"They are putting in another $70 million in equipment to ramp up manufacturing, and hiring another 100 workers to build more batteries. The plant is now up to 450 employees. He also said GE will expand at the Schenectady-Rotterdam site if the battery market grows as he expects.

City of Schenectady October 2011 GE Solar: 100 jobs* City of Schenectady October 2011: GE solar plant to Colorado, but 100 linked jobs here May 2011 GE Battery Plant: 350 jobs created City of Schenectady July 2010: GE gets OK for battery plant GE Renewable headquarters: 650 City of Schenectady GE Wind: 150 jobs created City of Schenectady GE Global Research and Energy Learning Center: 100 jobs created Box, BACK IN 2010 GE received the okay for the battery plant and then per McCarthy and the Plex 350 JOBS WERE CREATED IN MAY 2011!! So now you're wanting me to jump up and down for the GE battery plant that just opened???? What the heck was May 2011.... It was a lie. A lie that the Plex and McCarthy created 350 which NEVER EXISTED!!! Way to go Box, you just proved that the City, the Metroplex and GE are all liars. Congrats. Please let me know how the 100 relocated solar jobs come here......
Great Post. (If you're out to prove something about the Metroplex. I sure wasn't.)
Once again... the GE Battery plant (NOT METROPLEX) that announced adding 350 a year ago, had it's grand opening. At the grand opening the GE Battery plant (NOT METROPLEX) announced that it was ADDING ANOTHER 100 JOBS.
I know, I know... nothing good ever happens in Schenectady... so I'm sure these 100 additional jobs are really a bad thing... not a good thing.

This announcement and the 100 jobs it will bring is just the beginning of more good news to follow. Of course, the cowardly cuckoo and his/her nattering nayboob padded room roommates will just post some asinine response with some uninformed personal attacks to respond to each notice of new jobs and new developments in the county.

Actually, seems like these 100 jobs replace the 150 GE Wind jobs promised and the 100 solar jobs promised as well. All these 'promises'....how many come to fruition? BTW, where did GE get the $70 million for expansion? My guess, the federal govt (aka taxpayer money).
Did GE get $70 million to expand the battery plant??? I have no idea. Do you have a link, or is your claim just speculation???
