So stick a nozzle on the end of your hose, stake it in the ground and water your lawn and you're not in violation?!?!? .....how absurd. How is that less of a load on the equipment. Who thinks these things up, really.

I believe the car wash on Curry does recycle and also the Squirts on Chrysler.

I didn't say it made sense.  I just told you what I was told when I inquired about the watering ban.

Thank you to Bumblethru for the confirmation/affirmation of my statements.

Watering a garden by hose or watering with a watering can is NOT a violation of the ban.  As for the allegations made by Mack that somehow I was breaking the watering ban -- he is just an out and out liar.  We haven't watered our lawn since the ban took effect.  We do not have a vegetable garden this year.  And - we watered our outdoor plants with a watering can.

Oh -- and it is a lie that I am not a property owner.  I do own property but it is not in this town.

Thanks.  When RPD starts enforcing this, the people are going to need to tell them where they got the "interpretation".  Can you provide us with your full name and address for the police reports to defend ourselves ?

Thank you for your cooperation!

After everyone else who posts on this site gives their full name and address - then I will think about it.

Most folks set up their sprinkler and it runs for hours. NO ONE is going to stand outside in 90+ degree weather for hours watering their lawns when they can be in air conditioning or in a pool....or running back and forth with a watering can when their sprinkler can do the work.
Sprinklers use more water.

but honestly folks.....most folks in the capital district that are on a water restriction, ARE restricting their water use. Just drive around and look at some of these lawns.....both residential and commercial.

I think this subject of water restrictions has been recycled long enough....no?

the more important issue in rotterdam is fixing the damn antiquated equipment.....yes?

Except that the ban refers to "unnecessary watering" such as using a sprinkler to water the lawn, washing cars and similar "unnecessary watering".  You can choose to believe me or not but I checked into the matter and I am certain that I am correct in my statement.

Well then, what is "unnecessary" to one is "necessary" to another.

Now if you checked into the matter, than you can provide the statement from the town water department itself, you can name the person you spoke with and you can quote exactly what he or she said, and any of us can call that person and get the same answer as you got, right?

You won't respond because you have NOT checked into it, and therefore you cannot provide any facts!!!!

Just like everything else....you make statements but NEVER support them with evidence!

Rotterdam issues watering ban
By: Web Staff

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- Officials in the Town of Rotterdam have issued a watering ban, effective immediately.

The ban is in effect through July 17th because of an equipment failure. During that time, residents are prohibited from using water to wash cars and water lawns and plants.

Last week, the town issued a similar order prohibiting unnecessary watering because of low water levels in the town related to the dry weather.

Using a hose is prohibited too.  Watering, even with a hose in hand, on the typical lawns in town takes time.

Kids running out in the hose for 10 minutes is far less water than watering a lawn by hand.

But check out the story:

Police chief Anthony W. Jasenski said "the department occasionally tickets people for breaking the rules"

as our county legislator he could careless for the town in which he resides

just look of all the stuff rotterdam has gotten for the theft of our sales tax dollars by the county
