"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Is this how they're clearing the previously used lands now to do the Renaissance makeovers?

This thread is a hoot!

shhh, we must all be crazy if we discuss community events. Maybe Kommisar Box will have us rounded up by his friends and have us sent to the gulag.

Really!  Read this thread from beginning to end as I just did.

It starts this way:
"Another horrible morning fire in Schenectady. The long vacant Luigi's and a vacant house next door
were fully involved according to SFD sources. Damage to both structures is considerable and Luigi's is
in danger of total collapse. A sad ending to a famous Schenectady eatery that was once packed with
customers and hosted many City events."

And:
"Sad ending to the former jewel of Little Italy. A place that hosted so many weddings, church functions and civic ceremonies."

A post about an unfortunate fire that destroyed a local landmark.

Then degenerates to this:
~More Condo's? Looks like they are trying to take over that area.
~Is this how they're clearing the previously used lands now to do the Renaissance makeovers?
~Another renaissance arsonist!
~Every month another 250 NYC welfare recipients move in for the great bike paths and governmental gin mills.
~Operation Renaissance!
~scorched earth policy...all in the name of renaissance.....it's cheaper and really who would know?
~SHOW ME THE $$ TRAIL......must lead to Ireland or Italy

Really!  I didn't make this stuff up!  It's all here on this thread.
Then Graham's "discuss community events" and "have us sent to the gulag"!!!

A local landmark, "The former jewel of Little Italy... A place that hosted so many weddings"... a place
that had memories and fond memories to many locals...
Turns into, (as almost every issue here always does) a tirade of rants against the "renaissance"
or against local politicians.

OMG!

Schenectady County...

Too Small for a County
Too Big for an Insane Asylum

Bravo! Another location for a Metrograft parking lot/park or bike path! Keep the DEM implosion going. There are still some evil job creators that need to be forced out of this County under the Judy Dag/McCheese regimes. For course it looks like real renaissance from empty Proctor's Arcade or Fulton County.

Just wonder what is going to be put in the place of all this soon to be demolitioned blight throughout the city.   Not just the fire damaged ones that are to be razed.   But also future ones once the city gets "stuck" with more and more standing ones through foreclosure.   What is the rehab/rebuilding plan for these vacant plots once the demo. begins?   All these current/future empty lots can't be pocket parks.   Will the Plex get involved, if/when they change their charter to allow residential involvement.   That also would open up the door for private funds (developers) to jump in, of course with the Plex backing them up.   And given the undesirability of many of these neighborhoods it's likely only a gov't funded agency would supply the funding.

Luigi's was a fine family-run restaurant with very good food.  I remember eating there occasionally about 30 years ago when I was in college.  Luigi's along with Lombardo's in Albany were great places to get a nice Italian meal.

It was sad to see the place close when its owner was murdered several years ago, to see it just stand vacant for so many years and to see it go up in flames recently.  Hopefully, something good will come from this long series of tragic events.
