Bottom line, if they really cared about people knowing what was in the bill BEFORE it passed, they could have posted the FINAL negotiated bill online for the press and public to view for say, 72 hours (where did I hear that before?) BEFORE they voted on it.... But that would be transparancy... Nah, never mind then...

I agree with you.  I believed that at the time and still believe that today.  All legislation that is put on the House or Senate calendar for a vote should be online for 72 hours before the vote.

I keep reading what WILL HAPPEN... over and over again on this board.  In 1010 I heard that Gas Prices will reach
$5 a gallon, and in 2011 they were going to hit $6 by the summer...

Maybe the pubs believed Obama when he was on his recovery summer tour...
C'mon Box, you know the only reason gas it where it is... the Eurozone is in deep sh*t and we are not far behind.
When economies grow, energy use increases...everywhere from new businesses starting to families going on road trip vacations. With more demand, oil rises and gas follows.
I guess the pubs were wrong because Obama did worse than they thought he would.

So what your saying is that these board 'experts' were full of crap... either way, they just make up
excuses for their lame opinions.

Conservatives seem to love playing Henny Penny..."The sky is falling, the sky is falling".  They don't base their
fears on facts, but instead on fulfilling an agenda and on opinion.

The Conservative brain it turns out is a fragile thing.

Outrage, and cheer, over health law
Albany Medical Center chief says vote "terrible mistake"

By Robert Gavin
Published 11:08 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012

ALBANY — The top executive at Albany Medical Center said Friday he believes Chief Justice John Roberts "slammed Congress" in upholding the Obama administration's health care law — a move he called a "violent" shift from the separation of powers between branches of government.

"I think yesterday's decision was dead wrong. Dead wrong!" James Barba, Albany Med's CEO and president, told a panel of health care and business representatives discussing Thursday's landmark 5-4 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld the Affordable Care Act. "This is the first time I'm saying that in public and probably the last. They shouldn't have done that. It was a terrible, terrible mistake."

Barba, a lawyer for 42 years and self-described scholar and lover of the Constitution, added: "Perhaps there's not another American among the 300 million of us who was not offended by what went on yesterday. But I am violently offended by it."

He spoke at a symposium, held at BlueShield of Northeastern New York in Latham, to discuss the new law. The event, moderated by Times Union Editor Rex Smith, drew varying opinions — some stronger than others.

"I think that had the Supreme Court struck down the law yesterday, we'd be in chaos in a way that would really affect human beings in the health care system," said Alicia Ouellete, associate dean of student affairs and a professor of bioethics at Albany Law School. "We wouldn't know what was going on."

Joan Hayner, chief executive officer of CapitalCare Medical Group, said the law is "fraught with a lot of problematic issues" but called it a victory for health care consumers.....................>>>>..................>>>>.................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Outrage-and-cheer-over-health-law-3674857.php#ixzz1zHIB0lcJ

Romneycare Architect: Individual Mandate 'Very Similar' In Obama, Romney Bills
Posted: 06/29/2012 12:38 pm Updated: 06/29/2012 2:13 pm

WASHINGTON -- One of the few individuals who worked on health care reform under both Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama said on Friday that the controversial individual mandate provision was virtually identical in the bills signed into law by each of them.

"They are very similar," said Jonathan Gruber, a professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in an interview with The Huffington Post. "They aren't the same exact mandate, but they have the same basic structure."

Gruber was a key architect of the sweeping health insurance reform legislation that Romney passed as governor of Massachusetts. In addition, he advised Democrats and the Obama administration on how to build the Affordable Care Act. As that 18-month process unfolded, Gruber famously unloaded on Romney for his attacks on Obamacare, arguing that the two were the "same f**king bill."............................>>>>........................>>>>......................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....obama_n_1637882.html

Court’s OK lifts Medicare insurers, hospitals
By PAUL THARP and MICHELLE CELARIER
Last Updated: 5:45 AM, June 29, 2012
Posted: 11:42 PM, June 28, 2012

Hospitals and Medicare insurers were Wall Street darlings yesterday after the US Supreme Court refused to toss ObamaCare.

With billions of dollars in added revenues heading their way — thanks to the health law’s individual mandate — investors bid up the shares in the two huge business sectors.

Health-care spending accounts for nearly 20 percent of the nation’s GDP, and hospitals stand to benefit from a drop in losses from caring for uninsured patients.

Up to 32 million Americans will gain health insurance under ObamaCare.

“For the hospitals, it means that they get payment and they get more potential customers,” JJ Kinahan, chief derivatives strategist for TD Ameritrade, told Bloomberg News.

Shares of Health Corp. of America, the No. 1 hospital chain in the country, shot up 11 percent — adding more than $1.2 billion in value for shareholders — to $29.74. They are up 44 percent in the past 12 months.

Community Health Systems, a major provider of emergency room and walk-in critical care centers, jumped 8 percent to $27.54, and is up 57.8 percent for one year.

In addition, Molina Health, a Medicare insurer, climbed 8.6 percent to $23.16.

Quest Diagnostics, which provides lab tests, rose nearly 3 percent, boosting shareholder value by $254 million. It’s up 40 percent in the past year.

Some business owners applauded the high court’s ruling because it requires most workers to carry health insurance, even if paid from their own pockets.

“That will only stimulate the economy and help folks start to hire again,” said Todd Bailey, a vice president at WebiMax, of Mt. Laurel, NJ, which expects to save thousands of dollars in coverage provided to its 150 workers due to a sharp boost in tax credits under the health law.

“If you’re paying an average of $15,000 per employee for benefits, that’s a $4,000 savings per employee,” he said of the hike in tax credits.

Small businesses make up about half of the nation’s work force, according to the Commerce Department.

Not every sector in the health-care field saw their stock pop due to the court ruling....................>>>>.....................>>>>...............Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/health_wealth_GyryGtvt2MT2O0eAFOylKK#ixzz1zHTANu54

No taxation without representation!
29.06.2012
By Xavier Lerma

Clinton couldn't do it in the 90's but Obama's paid off justices in the Supreme Court were able to kick in government health care. Obamacare was forced to pass whether you like it or not. Wacky Judge Roberts just changed the word "penalty" and called it a "tax".

What was called unconstitutional by other courts is now legal. Whatever happened to "no taxation without representation"?

"insane children and adolescents in charge of our government" -Alan Keyes

The line has been drawn in the sand and although health care "sounds" good it is unconstitutional for the government to force anyone to buy insurance. Not to mention the fact that in Obama's world "transparency" means you can't see what's in the health care bill until it passes. That too is unconstitutional. All illegal and all un-American.......................>>>>..........................>>>>.......................http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/29-06-2012/121517-obamacare-0/

You are also 'mandated' to have insurance at the age of 65!! If you don't show proof that you have private coverage....you will be 'automatically', forced to be covered under medicare and they WILL deduct the cost from your SS check!!!

Obamacare is no different! How much did medicare cost at it's inception? How much does it cost NOW???? The same thing will happen with obamacare! They are and will be both runaway trains and will eventually bankrupt the taxpayers! And how much in taxes do they think they are going to receive? There are no jobs, and none see in the near future........unemployment is high......baby boomers(highest in history)..........food stamps at it's highest...etc.....

it appears that the government is spending well over what it brings in!! No vision and no plan for that 'rainy day'. The fact of the matter is........they learned NOTHING from the great depression!
