President Obama may have won the argument over his health reform law at the Supreme Court — but he's losing it in the states.
Since the Supreme Court upheld most of ObamaCare, six governors have said they will not abide by it. Four others have said that they will not set up the health insurance exchanges the law envisions, and 15 others are considering other options or waiting for the outcome of November's election.
That's half the states. More may follow — particularly as they discover how much they'll have to spend to comply with ObamaCare.
One of the law's more burdensome provisions is its requirement that states establish health insurance exchanges, where consumers and small businesses can shop for insurance policies. States are to receive grants from the feds in order to offset the cost of setting up the exchanges.
If a state declines to follow federal dictates, then the feds will step in, construct an exchange, and run it.
That, of course, is only if everything goes according to ObamaCare's plans.
And that outcome's far from assured.
First, the grants only fund start-up costs. The federal tap will be turned off in as little as a year — and at most, in five years. In other words, ObamaCare saddles the states with an unfunded mandate that will cost millions of dollars to run. ObamaCare Medicaid Expansion Would Save Arkansas $350 Million
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities today pointed out a new study from Arkansas’ Department of Human Services, which found the expansion of Medicaid in ObamaCarfe would save the state $350 million between 2014 and 2025. This stands in stark contrast to an earlier estimate from the state that participation in the reform law would cost it over $800 million over roughly the same period.
Arkansas’ new estimate does fall in line with a recent Urban Institute study which offered an optimistic prediction of $362 million in savings for the state between 2014 and 2019, and a pessimistic prediction of $7 million in new costs.

A major problem with the public dialog on Obamacare is misinformation. Steve Keller’s July 8 Viewpoint, “Health care law still flawed: we need a back up plan,” is the latest example. The most fallacious statement by Keller was, “Both laws (meaning Romneycare and Obamacare) do essentially the same thing.” Wrong! The only similarity is both plans have a mandate that all must have health insurance. Obamacare reorganizes the entire U.S. health insurance industry. Romneycare only provided health care to the 8 percent of citizens that could not afford insurance. The remaining 92 percent in Massachusetts had their plan untouched — they could keep it and their doctors. Obama promised us that we also could keep our present plans and doctors, but it is untrue: There are 159 new agencies created by Obamacare that are writing thousands of new requirements for insurance, and all existing plans will be changed. Obamacare raises taxes by over $1 trillion over the next decade; Romneycare was installed with no increase in taxes. Romney moved some of the state’s Medicaid funds to individuals so that they can afford their own insurance. Apparently it worked. By the way, remember that Obamacare has taken $500 billion out of the Medicare fund to support Obamacare. This will eliminate the Medicare Advantage plans that over 11 million seniors use. Also, Medicare fraud — estimated now to total about $60 billion a year — has become one of, if not the, most profitable crimes in America. Government just can’t do it well. One of the changes that Keller wishes to be made to Obamacare is a “public alternative” to the for–profit insurance market. He wants us to be like the UK or Canada. Keller claims government-run health care in countries with socialized medicine has proven to be more popular and effi cient. Really? Can anyone cite any government program that is run better, more effi ciently, than the services in a private market?
Who will be offering most of the health insurance policies under ObamaCare??? Of course we all know the answer. Private Health Insurance companies... not the government.

Romney is FOR the individual mandate... in Israel! Not in the USA!
While in Israel, Romney favored the individual mandate and universal health care: “For an American abroad, you can’t get much closer to the ideals and convictions of my own country than you do in Israel." “Do you realize what health care spending is as a percentage of the G.D.P. in Israel? Eight percent,” he said. “You spend eight percent of G.D.P. on health care. You’re a pretty healthy nation. We spend 18 percent of our G.D.P. on health care, 10 percentage points more. That gap, that 10 percent cost, compare that with the size of our military — our military which is 4 percent, 4 percent. Our gap with Israel is 10 points of G.D.P. We have to find ways — not just to provide health care to more people, but to find ways to fund and manage our health care costs.”
Israel spends less on health care because of it's universal health system which requires everyone to buy insurance. Israelis are required to purchase health care services through one of the country’s four HMOs.
