Cops: Fake repo man scams Rotterdam residents Published 01:02 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2012
ROTTERDAM — A 50-year-old town man known by the nickname "Pat Love" ripped off several Rotterdam residents by claiming they could work for his vehicle repossession business if they paid him $150 for a license, police said.
The scam started earlier this year when, police said, Patrick Walsh of Edgewood Avenue, befriended a local man. Walsh told the man he owned the repossession business and offered jobs to the man's family and friends, police said.
Walsh eventually offered jobs to four people but told them they had to pay him for the licenses before they could work, police said.
Walsh also claimed he owned a scratch-and-dent appliance business and promised to sell a victim $850 for a washer and dryer set, police said. He then promised to
