questioning and trying to understand is much more reasonable than automatically being suspicious,
Quoted from joebxr
Unless you were informed of the details leading to all this and the LOCKOUT, I don't think you can make these kind of assumptions...and the authorities will not (and are not required to) provide that level of detail. So accept that they were acting in good faith in trying to protect the public and especialy the children rather than making it a war state mentality!

REPEAT: Unfair evaluation, similar to how your thought pattern apparently works.  Judgemental without knowing enough facts!!!!

When the "authorities" are not required to provide detail, how do I begin to evaluate and understand?  Based on your own words, the authorities are not required to provide details justifying their actions.  We must believe they are always acting in "good faith".  I could give you a laundry list of examples of the "authorities" abusing their power.

Joebxr - REPEAT: Unfair evaluation, similar to how your thought pattern apparently works.  Judgemental without knowing enough facts!!!!

Cicero - When the "authorities" are not required to provide detail, how do I begin to evaluate and understand?

Joebxr - NOT SAYING I AGREE, BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE THE REALITY, AND SOMETIMES WITH REASON AND OTHER TIMES WITHOUT REASON

So, are saying the actions taken by the state authorities should be viewed with suspicion, since you may never get the details and facts because it is up to the authorities whether to share those details with the public?  Or is it that you should have faith in state authority and that the withholding of the details is acceptable?

It is my in my judgement based on the few facts presented by the authorites, that detaining children in three separate schools and a state police helicopter is overkill in response to an alleged knife threat during a domestic dispute.

Very adept at twisting statements as you wish....I'm not going to play your game.

Cicero wants to call the police AFTER the shots are fired.  He waits till there is a "shooting spree in the school parking lot" before he considers the situation to be serious.

Ahhhh...I know box, you are one of those 'pre-crime' people.  We've gone over this in the Al-Awlaki thread.  Everybody is an imminent threat to the public.  Whether it is a person in Yemen labeled a "terrorist" or a knife wielding man in Scotia NY threatening his girlfriend.  It's about lock outs, lock downs, pat downs, check points, surveillance, incarceration, and pre-emptive assassination.

We are tops in the western world in incarceration rates, we are tops in the western world in homicide rates.   Feel safe?

Not twisting, just trying to understand.  You gave a lawyer answer on that last post.  You gave the 'on one hand and on the other hand' response.  You hedged.

NOT SAYING I AGREE, BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE THE REALITY, AND SOMETIMES WITH REASON AND OTHER TIMES WITHOUT REASON

First of all, let's clarify that this was "....lockout, meaning no one is allowed into the building", not a "lockdown" as Mr. Cicero directed this thread to be.
Secondly, if they had not done a lockout, and if the nut case made it into the school, and even if no one was hurt and if he ran out the back, you would all be screaming bloody murder that the cops didn't lockout or lockdown the school. Why not just be thankful that no one was hurt instead of turning the whole thing into a gestapo over-reaction activity!

Sorry, I was just posting it as news for people locally who might have been interested, and I posted it as I heard it.  It was originally announced as a "lockdown," not as a "lockout" as you're stating.

SCOTIA — The man wanted in connection with a domestic incident that launched a manhunt and forced the lock down of three Scotia-Glenville schools Tuesday turned himself into police Friday afternoon.

Jason S. Martin, 28, of Schenectady was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, Scotia police said.

Village police issued a warrant for Martin's arrest Tuesday after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife at 108 Seely St., police said. Martin then fled the home before police arrived and evaded a search that included the use of a State Police helicopter, according to reports.

The incident occurred near Scotia-Glenville High School, Middle School and Sacandaga Elementary School, prompting all three to lock their doors.

He was arraigned in village court and sent to Schenectady County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail, police said.

WOW!  The person involved in the manhunt that included a helicopter, and school 'lockouts' has bail set at $15K.  What a real threat to society.

Uh-Oh... The Time Union called it a lock down...The Roman Orator may have been right calling it a lock down.  Or, Joebxr has to call the TU and have them correct the record.

Might be explained by this:

The report found Ellis failed to provide any psychiatric care to Mason during her intermittent four-day stay at the jail, despite the hospital’s contract to provide mental health services to inmates. Even when Mason was evaluated and treated at the hospital, she received only the level of care provided by social workers, according to the report.

I think you are mixing stories...This thread is about the blood thirsty knife wielding boyfriend Jason Martin, the fugitive on the run from police helicopters. You linked to Latisha Mason, the women that died in the Schenectady County Jail.  Unless I'm missing another point you are trying to make.
