SCHENECTADY — Two women were accused this week of illegally receiving housing assistance in unrelated cases, authorities said. Lisa Cherry, 43, of Manhattan Street, was charged Tuesday with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of fi rst-degree offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies. Cherry is accused of failing to report other residents of her home, allowing her to receive just over $1,000 in housing benefits she wasn’t entitled to, according to papers filed in court. Ruthie B. Bell, 56, of Campbell Avenue, was charged with two counts of fi rst-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Bell is accused of failing to report she received Social Security payments for a member of her household, causing her to receive about $650 in housing assistance she wasn’t entitled to, authorities said.
