The Erie disaster is a the latest in a long line of pathetic decisions by McCarthy. He's in today's Gazetto with a presser at the s*** plant. McCarthy sat like a clapping seal on the Metrograft board and approved all the tax giveaways that caused this revenue problem. All the turkeys have come home to roost. There are no savings to tap into. The head of the Council Finance Committee is in Hong Kong. Paulino and Marco blasted off. The Gazetto editorial board refused to comment on this $5 million DEM scandal. Another scoop by Lauren Stanforth who seems to be the only investigative reporter left in the area. All the DEM stooges are unavailable for comment or at "meetings".

"It's not that bad?" "This is happening in every NE City?" Really-where else? Right Camden, NJ which also had to be taken over by State officials. McCarthy knew about this-hid it to win election and the media gave him a big pass. No one even asked his qualifications to be City Councilman. The DEMS are in free fall. They have been exposed again. They should have another meeting- lol. DEM morons will increase nit wit fees, increase the highest tax levy in the Nation, more code enforcement everything except CUT SPENDING and ENFORCE RESIDENCY LAWS. Watch the parade of nonprofits demanding even more City support.

Great editorial today that should have been in early November's Gazetto. Of course, Big Mac and the 6 DEM stooges have been spending money like drunken sailors. But sailors are spending their own and not other people's money. McCarthy keeps to happy talk and minimize his total involvement in this total financial debacle. Wher earer the layoffs Gary? Where are your cuts Marion? What is your plan Carl? Hello Moody's Investor Service! Meanwhile in all REP/CONS Glenville the credit rating has been improved. But according to Quail that's the only problem.

RE: Editorial

Excessive spending by police -

SPD was overbudget for a number of reasons -

1)  Budget was cut by about $2.5million dollars from previous year

2)  Department was not allowed to balance overtime problems with vacant salaries.  This is the first year they did not have the benefit of vacant salaries

3) SPD was not up to full strength and exacerbated by  a financial incentive for 10 poersonnel per year to retire for past years.  Purpose of this incentive was to encourage most expensive employees to leave, replaced by less expensive new (Tier 5) employees.  Short term pain, long term gain.
(By end of 2013 at least 1/3 of workforce will be Tier 5)

4) Contractual raises plus longevity increases

Was it excessive spending.  I don't think so Department's overtime expenditures have been decreasing.

The problem is not in the police station. It's in City Hall. No leadership-no vision-no plan. It's even worse than has been reported this year. Everyone with any budgetary expertise left with Stratton. When Stratton left the Gazetto was praising him for turning around City finances. He did nothing except front load tax foreclosure receivables. No one wants City tax liens anymore. The entire DEM house of cards has fallen and its funny to watch the DEMS blame each other for their scandal. They have no solution and the State Comptroller must now come in and clean up McCarthy's mess.

The problem is that in Schenectady a Budget isnt a budget.   The City Financial Leaders are not doing their job or the Managers are not being realistic at all reporting the expected costs to finance.  The Taxes and Allowances for Non Payment of Taxes wasnt even close.

visitor, points #1 through #4 are all the fault of the SPD.  They created the contract.   The issues and pressures they are experiencing are all a result of greed which led to these un  Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered.

They are shocked SHOCKED! to find the City {under their DEM moron "leadership} $6 MILLION in debt. They must resign in disgrace. Hull's problem what that he was too much of a gentleman to tackle the BS DEMS were throwing around. Now the bright light is shinning on this corruption incompetent administration. I hear Marion Poterfield and Karl Erickson have new plans-ROTFLMAO!!

The facts are not in dispute. McCarthy sat on the Council for decades. He sat on the Metrograft bored. Sooner or later someone in the media will put 2 and 2 together. It's because of all the tax giveaways that McCarthy approved-that Mayor McCarthy can't pay his bills. Meanwhile the poor City schools kids suffer while the DEM pay the working together County idiots.

where is the troll?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
