Working together works! The DEMS morons repay the County DEMS and stiff the City school children they always pretend to care about. DEM fiscal incompetents pile driving the City into the dirt. And they keep slamming every board and committee with more tax crazed DEMS.

The Gazetto, TU and Spotlight should get off the DEM ether and demand the immediate resignation of this total fiscal incompetent. McCarthy sat for 24 years on his butt and wanted to raise City taxes even more than Son of Sam. I look forward to Thursday editorials- lol. Got a recall?

Maybe it's time for a Schenectady Tea Party where the residents throw the politicians into the river.

They should resign.

They will never resign in disgrace. The AG/State Comptroller need to investigate the DEM spending and pay to play self dealing that's been going on for decades. While Big Mac sat like a lump on a log and did NOTHING. Total fiscal incompetents-it's more like a $6 MILLION hole including this quarter. The State must come in and takeover from these useless. clueless frauds. Working together never works!

Do they still owe the School District a big payment also like the County one?

I dont see the county giving the city a larger percentage of the sales tax dollars.  We are noit in a position of power.  If they do raise it it would be to keep us alive enough to suck us dry.  Very parasitic.

The city SHOULD have been in a better postition with NO snow this year, but wait that one councilwoman wanted to use it for Steimetz Park?

EVERY councilmember, the finance dept, the legal dept, they all had to know about the deficit.

And they are worried about rebuiding Erie Blvd and condos and all that CRAP.

Whens the next council meeting one or two weeks from now?

Whose up for picketing?

It's time for departments to be cut or eliminated.

I don't think the county payment was part of the deficit since it is a balance sheet item.  This just the tip of the iceberg.  Is it possible to FOIL the cites General Ledger?

So does this mean the arrow painted on a road isn't important anymore?

Here is a link to the wonderful financials.......highlights include the $4,000,000 still owed to the school districts.....and the $191,000,000 in Actuarial Accrued Liablity.  Only a $14,000,000 payment per year at this time.

And the only thing they can do at this point is layoffs, increase fees or increase the levy.

I'd say #1 is probably not gonna happen

Guess what folks, 2&3 are most likely.

And to think this was just a couple of weeks ago

Quoted Text
Mayor Gary McCarthy rejected the idea that this year's budget needs to be slashed. "We're going to pay our bills. We're going to keep the lights on. It's just that we're an urban city under pressure," he said.

Looming darkly in the background is the 2013 budget, which will be constructed this fall without the benefit of the millions of dollars in surplus funds the city drew upon over the years to stave off big cuts and tax increases.

"We're looking at ways to cut costs and amend the budget. If we find things that are good ideas, we'll vote on them," said City Councilman Carl Erikson. "Some people are not comfortable having nothing left or a nominal (surplus) amount left. I think we need to have cash reserves and have emergency money for unforeseen things that come up."
