End the health insurance for the PART TIME city council people!

Give the city dept head 90 days to move INTO the city -- those dept heads NEED to feel the financial PAIN, the financial BURDENS that they force upon the city homeowners.

STOP the code enforcement stuff for incorrect size house numbers and MINOR peeling paint

End the tax exemptions, be they full or partial, be they temporary or permanent, on all the properties downtown (and any other such properties that plex is concerned wtih)

END the "non-profit" status of Proctors because CLEARLY it is NOT a "non-profit"   Non profits are volunteers organizations, like SLOC and Civic Playtors which VOLUNTEERS put on the productions.   A theater which puts on lavish, and expensive, Broadway productions, and forces it's volunteers to pay for volunteering while it's CEO is getting over $200,000 a year pay is clearly NOT a "non-profit"

KILL the Erie Blvd project.   The taxpayers (of which DV is NOT one of them) CANNOT AFFORD IT.   The city is $5 mil in the whole and McC wants to spend city tax dollars on Erie Blvd while he will have layoff people which will mean cuts in services to neighborhoods -- those places where people live and already pay almost the highest taxes in the whole country.   Besides, people do NOT like to drive in traffic jams which is why the state is looking to expand the ability for people to drive to their homes, e.g., the Northway

That's for starters

Council slow to act on deficit
Schenectady panel says it will leave how to close $5M gap up to mayor

By Lauren Stanforth
Published 10:17 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012

SCHENECTADY — Days after Mayor Gary McCarthy revealed the city ended 2011 with a $5 million deficit, a City Council committee meeting slated for Monday night will apparently go on with little or no discussion about the city's dire fiscal circumstance.

City Councilman Carl Erikson, chairman of the council's finance committee, said there might be a mention of the deficit, but he thinks the council should leave finding a solution to plugging the $5 million hole up to the mayor — instead of ruminating over possible cuts, as has been previously discussed. As of Friday, there was nothing listed on Monday's agenda about the budget gap.....................>>>>.................>>>>.................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Council-slow-to-act-on-deficit-3538719.php#ixzz1uBA9LPfN

The City DEM morons want to spend $400,000 for THREE new vehicles for Parks and Recreation! More dereliction of duty. Instead of ANY cuts they continue to spend and borrow like drunken sailors. And it's worse than the initial reports. Next Monday they will pack the Council chamber with awards and more cheer leading nonsense. The Mayor is incapable of  making any tough decisions. And Carl Erickson refuses to do anything to protect the oppressed taxpayers. He wishes there was no tax cap so he could raise taxes another 29% and collect even less revenue. Where's Marion Poterfield's reduction ideas? ROTFLMAO!

I'd like to congratulate Carl Erickson on his graduation from the "Talking out of both sides if your mouth Lemming Colllege"....................anybody else think that Carl was told to STFU and do what we tell you to do...............and the next time Riggi makes any sense to vehemently disagree..........

"Gary has a plan" Finance Chair Carl Erickson. WTF! What are you idiots talking about? Gary McCarthy has a plan alright. Spend $400,000 to buy 3 more City vehicles so someone can take one home to Lake Luzerne every night. Carl Erickson should have an emergency meeting tonight or resign in disgrace. No plan, no cuts, no ability to do ANYTHING. Stop budgeting $10 million more than you take in.

Mayor Gary McCarthy continued to say there’s no reason for drastic cuts. He said his plan to get more property owners to buy in Schenectady

Yeah, how's that working out?   Where's the numbers?   The homeowners in the city have a birthright entitlement to know the results of the use of their tax dollars for paying city employees to do these open houses.

And perhaps DV can explain how people are going to buy in a city that finished last year $5 mil in the hole, a city where anyone who buys a home will be paying the property & school taxes of the millionaire and billionaires downtown, a city that already the HOMEowners pay almost the highest taxes in the whole country and where they will that a tax increase for next year may possibly put Schenectady actually at the highest taxes (instead of "almost") in the whole country.

Lowest mortgage rates in history, home values plummeted so very much in the city that houses might cost little more than a car, approval of mortgages far in excess of the purchase price, handouts from a dem he praises, and STILL the cheerleader for the city, the big DV -- REFUSES to move into the city!    Why?????

And still, after all the high praise DV has been doling out to his fellow dems that the city is oh so wonderful, the TRUTH is coming out, the city is failing and DV is TOO EMBARRASSED to even comment on how very very very BAD things are.

Just noticed, is this what he intended to say?     Notice this:    "...property owners...."    means you CURRENTLY own a house.   And then "...to buy IN Schenectady" would mean you CURRENTLY do not live IN the city.

Does the dem McCarthy think that people who are property owners OUTSIDE of Schenectady, paying $3,000 in taxes are going to even remotely consider selling their current homes (outside the city)  buying IN the city which would result in them paying twice as much taxes for half the house they have now outside of the city?

Or did McC intend to mean get more CURRENT city residents (aka tenants) to BUY a house with some taxpayer subsidized program and buy IN Schenectady?   Kinda sounds like he wants to create another mortgage/housing crisis?

Do you hear that DV????     Obviously time for you to persuade the property owners (of the house where you live) to sell their house and buy in Schenectady.    Since you claim the city is in a great renaissance, then of course this is what you should be doing now, yes?

Of course, there won't be any response unless it's babble or obscenities.

Mayor Gary McCarthy continued to say there’s no reason for drastic cuts. He said his plan .... while enforcing codes and foreclosing on those who don’t pay taxes will eventually bear fruit.

Enforcing codes.   Yeah, that means charging people with violations who have numbers on their homes that aren't of a certain size.

Enforcing cods.   Yeah, telll us how that's going to work.  Good homeowners WANT to fix up their homes,  Problem is that the dems have forced the homeowners to pay for all the new and/or renovated lavish buildings downtown and the homeowners have no money left to repair their own homes.   So McC's answer is to enforce the codes and financially penalize the good homeowners even more.   McC needs to go after the Popolizios, that Craig Alsdorf, Dennis Todd, and the rest of the big time scumlords.

Foreclosing on those who don't pay taxes.   Yeah as if that's going to help.   The big time tax delinquents, i.e., Popolizio, Craig Alsdorf, Todd, and all the rest of the big time scumlords always weasel their way out at the 11th hour.  Case in point, Popolizio was behind, actually in mortgage on his Drome Sound, it was something like $800,000, it was like the day before the county was going to auction it off.   A deal got made and he didn't lose it.   And how about the Alsdorf-Todd pair, the also super big time tax delinquents that McC and his dem buddies rewarded them with a quarter million dollars for the Foster Hotel building AND exempted them from paying the delinquent taxes on that building alone--a sum of about $30,000, so McC and co. hiked the taxes on the good homeowners in the city by making them pay the taxes of this scum pair.

Foreclosing sounds good, but it hurts the financially struggling good homeowners who want to pay their taxes but being almost the highest taxed in the whole country, it's very difficult, so McC wants to take their homes away and make them homeless.   And the big time tax delinquents will get their pricey specialized lawyers that will prevent foreclosure and the scum will continue to collect rents from taxpayer paid rents (renting to DSS clients) and not paying taxes.

By the way, what has McC done to get Popolizio to pay for the demolition of his burned out building at the corner of Eastern & McClellan.

Still owe the school district $4 million from last year also.  Can the school district raise the taxes to make up for the $4 that the city failed to pay?  Does the city pay a penalty on the amount owed?

Gary has a plan? Pretend there is no problem and then stall until his forced early retirement. What's $5 MILLION in the red when you are working together-ripping off poor school kids and paying off your County buddies? The State Controller will take over City finances from these clueless DEM ostriches.
